POSITION TITLE: COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR
JOB CLASSIFICATION: NON-EXEMPT (PART-TIME)
DEPARTMENT/PROGRAM: ADMINISTRATION
REPORTS TO: PASTOR
SCHEDULE: Up to 20 hours per week – schedule to be determined and may vary. Must be available for select nights, weekends, and Holy Days.
PAY RANGE: $20.00-$24.00 per hour
Based on experience, education, and qualifications.
SUMMARY
The Communications Coordinator supports the mission and vision of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church
by managing and implementing a comprehensive communications strategy. This role manages the parish's website, social media, bulletin, newsletter, and photography, creating engaging content that promotes parish life, ministries, and events. This position also oversees the production and delivery of livestreamed liturgies and special events while coordinating the parish media team. The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller, with a strong understanding of communications best practices and modern digital tools. Working collaboratively with the pastor, business manager, parish staff, and ministry leaders, the Communications Coordinator ensures timely, engaging, and faith-filled communication that informs, inspires, and strengthens the parish community while supporting the mission of the Roman Catholic Church.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Because all St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church employees represent the Roman Catholic Church, they are expected to conduct themselves according to the goals and mission of the Church in performing their work.
The position of Communications Coordinator consists of some or all of the following duties:
- Plan, develop, create, curate, and publish engaging communications that communicate the Gospel, promote discipleship, and support parish ministries and initiatives.
- Manage and maintain the parish's website, social media platforms, bulletin, newsletter, email communications, and other digital and print communications channels to ensure content is current, accurate, and visually engaging.
- Develop and execute a content calendar for all parish communications platforms, ensuring timely, accurate, and engaging messaging.
- Create and design promotional materials, including social media graphics, flyers, email campaigns, bulletin announcements, and other communications as needed.
- Ensure consistency in parish branding, messaging, and visual identity across all communications platforms.
- Monitor website traffic, social media engagement, and communication analytics to evaluate effectiveness and recommend improvements.
- Coordinate with the Diocese of Orange Office of Communications on diocesan initiatives and communication best practices as needed.
- Increase engagement among parishioners while expanding the parish's reach to prospective members and the broader community.
- Attend key parish liturgies, events, and ministries to capture photographs, video, and other content for parish communications.
- Maintain communication archives, templates, and digital assets.
- Assist with livestream promotion and multimedia communications for parish liturgies and events as applicable.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding parishioners, donors, volunteers, employees, and sensitive parish information.
- Maintain communications calendar and bulletin schedule.
- Foster positive relationships with parishioners, volunteers, staff, and community partners.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Graphic Design, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Solid understanding of communications, marketing, branding, and digital engagement principles.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Intermediate proficiency with website management content management systems, Canva (or similar design software), and social media platforms.
- Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to collaborate with clergy, staff, volunteers, and ministry leaders.

- Familiarity with livestream technology and digital media production.
- Knowledge of parish life, Catholic liturgy, and liturgical calendar.
WORK CONDITIONS
- The position primarily involves work in an office setting within the parish premises, requiring frequent use of office equipment such as computers, telephones, printers, credit card swipe, postage machine, and filing systems.
- Occasional evening and weekend work is required to support parish liturgies, ministries, and special events.
- Must be available to adjust the schedule as needed to meet parish communication deadlines and ministry activities.
- Regular interaction with clergy, parish staff, parishioners, children, youth, adults, and volunteers in a professional, welcoming, and faith-based environment.
- Some local travel may be required for diocesan meetings, workshops, or parish events.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to remain seated for extended periods while performing administrative tasks.
- Frequent walking, standing, and moving around the parish campus to support programs and events.
- Ability to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds as needed, such as program materials, supplies, displays, and event setups.
- Manual dexterity required for operating office equipment, creating materials, managing paperwork, and digital media equipment.
- Visual and auditory ability to communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, and parishioners in person, via email, and by phone.
- Must be able to set up and dismantle chairs, tables, displays, and other equipment as needed for parish activities as required.
