Senior Level Communications Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a senior level communications manager job?
Senior level roles go to candidates who can demonstrate ownership of a communications function, not just execution within one. Employers look for experience leading strategy across multiple channels, managing or mentoring other communicators, and influencing stakeholders at the executive level. A portfolio showing measurable outcomes, such as earned media results or successful crisis response, gives candidates a clear edge over those with similar tenure but narrower scope.
Which companies hire senior level communications managers?
Companies hiring senior level communications managers right now include Databricks, Apple, and JPMorganChase, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level tends to concentrate in large enterprises, public agencies, and growth-stage organizations that have enough communications volume to justify dedicated senior leadership rather than generalist support.
Are there remote senior level communications manager jobs?
Yes, though availability varies by industry and employer. About 27% of senior level communications manager openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how many organizations have accepted that senior communications work can be done effectively without daily in-office presence. Fully on-site roles are more common in sectors like healthcare, government, and education where proximity to leadership matters.
What makes a communications manager role senior level?
Senior level communications manager roles are defined by scope, ownership, and leadership. Where a mid-level role executes campaigns or manages a channel, a senior role sets the communications strategy, owns outcomes across the function, and is accountable to executive stakeholders. Senior roles also typically involve mentoring junior staff, cross-functional collaboration with legal or policy teams, and representing the communications function in organizational decisions.
Which industries hire the most senior level communications managers?
Senior level communications manager roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Education, and Healthcare & Medical Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors tend to drive demand because they face high reputational stakes, complex stakeholder environments, or regulatory scrutiny that requires experienced communications leadership rather than generalist or junior support.
