Align your credentials with ASE certifications
Asbury dealerships consistently prioritize ASE-certified technicians when building sponsorship cases. Having active certifications in relevant areas, like engine repair or electrical systems, strengthens the PERM labor market test by demonstrating specialized qualifications that are genuinely hard to source domestically.
Target Asbury's franchised dealership locations directly
Asbury operates dozens of franchised dealerships under brand names like Nalley, Park Place, and Larry H. Miller. Applying to the specific dealership location rather than a generic corporate portal puts you in front of the hiring service manager who actually controls sponsorship decisions for technician roles.
Understand EB-3 as your most realistic pathway
Engineering Technician roles at automotive dealerships typically qualify under EB-3 skilled worker rather than EB-2, given the hands-on nature of the work. Confirm with the employer early whether they intend to file PERM through the DOL before accepting any offer contingent on sponsorship.
Ask about prevailing wage during offer negotiations
Under DOL rules, your offered wage must meet the prevailing wage for your specific technician classification and geographic location. Request clarity on the wage level they intend to certify, since a Level I determination versus Level II can meaningfully affect your total compensation structure.
Track your 60-day grace period if between dealership jobs
If you're transitioning between automotive employers while on an employment-based status, USCIS allows a 60-day grace period after your last day. Don't let this window expire before your new Asbury sponsorship petition is filed, as gaps in status can complicate the Green Card process.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open technician roles
Engineering Technician openings at Asbury-owned dealerships are spread across multiple markets and rotate frequently. Use Migrate Mate to filter and track active positions at Asbury Automotive Group that are open to sponsorship, so you're applying during active hiring cycles rather than to stale postings.

Find Engineering Technician at Asbury Automotive Group JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Asbury Automotive Group sponsor H-1B visas for Engineering Technicians?
H-1B sponsorship for Engineering Technician roles at Asbury is uncommon. The H-1B requires a specialty occupation tied to a specific bachelor's degree field, and hands-on technician work typically doesn't meet that threshold. Asbury's sponsorship activity for this role category leans toward employment-based Green Card pathways, particularly EB-3, which is better suited to skilled trade and technical positions.
Which visa types are commonly used for Engineering Technician roles at Asbury Automotive Group?
EB-3 skilled worker Green Cards are the most common sponsorship pathway for Engineering Technicians at Asbury. This route requires the employer to complete a PERM labor market test through the DOL before filing an immigrant petition with USCIS. EB-2 is less typical for this role unless the position requires an advanced degree or demonstrably specialized expertise beyond standard technician qualifications.
What qualifications or experience are expected for Engineering Technician roles at Asbury Automotive Group?
Asbury dealerships generally expect hands-on diagnostic experience with manufacturer-specific platforms, familiarity with OBD systems, and ASE certifications in relevant categories. Brand-specific training credentials, such as manufacturer master technician programs from Honda, Mercedes-Benz, or GM, carry significant weight since Asbury's portfolio spans luxury and volume brands across multiple regions.
How do I apply for Engineering Technician jobs at Asbury Automotive Group?
Applications go through individual dealership locations or Asbury's careers portal. Migrate Mate lists open Engineering Technician positions at Asbury and lets you filter by sponsorship eligibility, which saves time compared to checking each dealership separately. When applying, address the service manager directly if possible, as technician hiring decisions are typically made at the local dealership level rather than centrally.
How do I estimate the timeline for Green Card sponsorship through Asbury Automotive Group?
The PERM labor market test with the DOL typically takes six to twelve months before USCIS receives the immigrant petition. EB-3 priority dates for most nationalities are then subject to the Visa Bulletin, which can add significant additional wait time depending on your country of birth. Starting this conversation with Asbury's HR team before accepting an offer gives you a clearer picture of the full timeline.
