Earn ASE Certifications Before Applying
Asbury dealerships typically expect technicians to hold ASE certifications relevant to their service department's specialty. Completing your A-series certifications before you apply strengthens your petition by demonstrating the specialized knowledge that supports an EB-2 or EB-3 classification.
Target Multi-Franchise Locations for Sponsorship
Asbury operates across multiple dealership brands, and high-volume service centers have more consistent hiring pipelines. Focusing your outreach on their larger, multi-franchise locations improves your odds of finding a hiring manager with prior sponsorship experience and budget authority.
Browse Open Positions Through Migrate Mate
Asbury posts Maintenance Technician openings across their dealership groups regularly. Use Migrate Mate to filter and track these roles specifically, so you're applying to locations that are actively hiring rather than cold-contacting stores with no open headcount.
Understand the PERM Labor Certification Timeline
EB-3 sponsorship for Maintenance Technicians typically requires PERM, where your employer must advertise the role and document that no qualified U.S. worker was available. This process alone can take six to twelve months, so align your employment start date and status accordingly.
Confirm Sponsorship Before Accepting Any Offer
Hiring managers at individual Asbury dealerships set compensation and terms, but corporate HR typically coordinates the sponsorship process. Before signing an offer letter, get written confirmation from corporate HR that they'll initiate the EB-2 or EB-3 petition on your behalf.
Document All Prior Automotive Work Experience
For EB-3 unskilled or skilled worker classifications, USCIS evaluates your work history carefully. Collect reference letters, pay stubs, and employer verification from every automotive role you've held, particularly for transmission, electrical, or diagnostic specializations that strengthen your petition.

Find Maintenance Technician at Asbury Automotive Group JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Asbury Automotive Group sponsor H-1B visas for Maintenance Technicians?
Asbury Automotive Group does not typically sponsor H-1B visas for Maintenance Technician roles. H-1B is designed for specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field, and most hands-on technician positions do not meet that threshold. Asbury's sponsorship activity for this role is concentrated in the employment-based immigrant visa categories instead.
Which visa types are commonly used for Maintenance Technician roles at Asbury Automotive Group?
Asbury Automotive Group's sponsorship for Maintenance Technicians primarily falls under EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa categories. EB-3 is the more common path for skilled trade roles, covering workers with at least two years of training or experience. EB-2 applies if the role requires an advanced degree or you can demonstrate exceptional ability in the automotive service field.
What qualifications or experience does Asbury Automotive Group expect for Maintenance Technician roles?
Asbury dealerships generally expect candidates to have hands-on automotive service experience and relevant ASE certifications, particularly in areas like engine repair, brakes, suspension, or electrical systems. Familiarity with OEM-specific diagnostic tools used by the brands Asbury carries, such as Ford, Toyota, or Mercedes-Benz, is a practical advantage when applying to specific dealership locations.
How do I apply for Maintenance Technician jobs at Asbury Automotive Group?
You can find open Maintenance Technician positions at Asbury Automotive Group through Migrate Mate, which filters job listings by employer and visa sponsorship history. When you apply, tailor your resume to highlight your ASE certifications and brand-specific experience. Follow up directly with the service department manager at the location you're targeting, since hiring decisions often happen at the dealership level.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Maintenance Technician position at Asbury?
For an EB-3 petition, the process typically starts with PERM labor certification through the DOL, which alone can take six to twelve months. After PERM approval, Asbury files an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS. Depending on your country of birth and visa bulletin priority dates, total processing from job offer to Green Card can range from one to several years.
