About Nevada Gold Mines
Nevada Gold Mines is a joint venture between Barrick Gold Corporation (61.5%) and Newmont Goldcorp Corporation (38.5%), combining their significant assets across Nevada to create the single largest gold-producing complex in the world and realize the full potential of these mines through synergies and best-in-class operational improvements. The massive mining operation comprises 8 mines along with their associated infrastructure and processing facilities that produced an estimated 4 million ounces of gold in 2018. Three of these assets are Tier One gold mines: Barrick’s Cortez; the combination of Barrick’s Goldstrike and Newmont Goldcorp’s Carlin; and the combination of Barrick’s Turquoise Ridge and Newmont Goldcorp’s Twin Creeks. In addition, Barrick’s Goldrush-Fourmile project has the potential to become the fourth Tier One asset in this portfolio. The new JV is expected to generate around $5 billion in cost savings over the next five years. Nevada Gold Mines is operated by Barrick.

Tips for Finding Maintenance Technician Jobs at Nevada Gold Mines
Certify your trades credentials before applying
Nevada Gold Mines operates under strict MSHA safety requirements, so document any heavy equipment maintenance certifications, electrical licenses, or PLC training before you apply. Gaps in credentials slow sponsorship paperwork and give hiring managers pause.
Target open requisitions by specific mine site
Nevada Gold Mines runs multiple operations across Carlin, Cortez, and Turquoise Ridge. Requisitions posted for specific sites often reflect urgent vacancies, which shortens the hiring timeline and increases the likelihood of a sponsored offer moving quickly.
Clarify your visa category with the recruiter early
Nevada Gold Mines sponsors several visa types for technical roles, and the right pathway depends on your nationality and degree. Raise your status in the first recruiter call so HR can route your file to the correct immigration process without delays.
Understand PERM timelines for permanent residence
If you are pursuing an EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card through Nevada Gold Mines, the DOL PERM labor certification process typically runs six to twelve months before USCIS even receives the petition. Factor that into your overall timeline when evaluating an offer.
Use Migrate Mate to find open Maintenance Technician roles
Maintenance Technician openings at Nevada Gold Mines do not all appear on general job boards. Search Migrate Mate to filter specifically for sponsored roles at Nevada Gold Mines and identify which positions are actively hiring international candidates right now.
Align your resume language with mining maintenance standards
Describe experience in terms Nevada Gold Mines recruiters recognize: conveyor systems, haul truck components, ball mill maintenance, hydraulic troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance schedules. Vague descriptions of general mechanical work reduce your chance of clearing initial screening.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Nevada Gold Mines sponsor H-1B visas for Maintenance Technicians?
Yes, Nevada Gold Mines sponsors H-1B visas for Maintenance Technician roles where the position qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or technical field. If your role involves more hands-on trades work than degree-required engineering, Nevada Gold Mines may route your sponsorship through an alternative visa category instead.
Which visa types are commonly used for Maintenance Technician roles at Nevada Gold Mines?
Nevada Gold Mines uses H-1B for degree-holding engineering technicians, E-3 visa for eligible Australian citizens, and TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying technical occupations. For longer-term pathways, EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship is available for experienced maintenance professionals. F-1 OPT and CPT candidates in relevant engineering programs may also be considered for structured roles.
What qualifications and experience does Nevada Gold Mines expect for Maintenance Technician positions?
Nevada Gold Mines typically looks for candidates with a background in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance, often with experience on heavy mining equipment such as haul trucks, crushers, or conveyor systems. Familiarity with MSHA safety standards, preventive maintenance programs, and computerized maintenance management systems strengthens your application significantly. A relevant technical degree or trade certification is generally expected.
How do I apply for Maintenance Technician jobs at Nevada Gold Mines?
You can browse open Maintenance Technician positions at Nevada Gold Mines through Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for roles open to visa sponsorship. From there, applications route through Nevada Gold Mines' own hiring system. Prepare your credentials documentation, certifications, and work authorization details before applying, as the recruiter screening process at site-level roles tends to move quickly once a vacancy is flagged urgent.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Maintenance Technician offer at Nevada Gold Mines?
Timeline depends heavily on visa type. An E-3 or TN sponsorship can be completed in a matter of weeks since neither requires USCIS lottery or lengthy processing. H-1B sponsorship runs on the federal fiscal year cycle with a lottery in March and an October 1 start date. EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through DOL PERM adds a further six to eighteen months before you receive permanent residence approval.
