- Mechanical/Pneumatic: Experience with vacuum grippers, actuators, ball screws, and solenoid valves.
- Tooling: Ability to use precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers) and diagnostic equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters).
Qualifications
- Education: Associate degree in Mechatronics, Electronic Engineering Technology, or a related technical field. Equivalent military training or 4+ years of relevant experience is also highly valued.
- Experience: 2-5 years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, preferably within the electronics or semiconductor industry.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical problem-solving abilities, the capacity to work under pressure during line-down situations, and clear communication skills for technical reporting.

Certify Credentials Before Applying
Jabil's maintenance roles often require documented proficiency with PLCs, CNC equipment, or industrial automation systems. Getting certifications like NIMS or a recognized electrical license before you apply strengthens your petition and signals job-readiness to both the hiring team and USCIS.
Target Jabil Facilities in High-Demand Regions
Jabil operates large electronics manufacturing campuses in states like Florida, Alabama, and Texas where technical labor demand is high. Facilities in these regions tend to backfill maintenance roles more urgently, which can accelerate internal approval for sponsorship decisions.
Clarify Sponsorship Eligibility During Screening
Maintenance Technician roles at Jabil attract both union and non-union applicants. Raise visa sponsorship during the recruiter screen, not after an offer is extended. This avoids late-stage delays and confirms whether the specific facility has a procurement-approved sponsorship pathway.
Understand How TN Status Fits This Role
Canadian and Mexican nationals can pursue TN status for engineering technician roles, which can cover Maintenance Technician positions when the job duties align with qualifying TN categories. Confirm the role description matches TN criteria before your offer letter is finalized to avoid reapplying under a different category.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Sponsoring Facilities
Not every Jabil location actively sponsors visas for Maintenance Technician roles. Use Migrate Mate to filter open positions by sponsorship history and identify which facilities have filed for this role type, so you're applying where approval is most realistic.
Prepare for PERM Documentation Early
EB-2 and EB-3 green card pathways for Maintenance Technicians require the employer to run a PERM labor certification through DOL, which involves documenting that no qualified U.S. workers were available. Having your foreign credentials evaluated and translated before this process begins prevents timeline bottlenecks that can delay your case by months.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Jabil sponsor H-1B visas for Maintenance Technicians?
Yes, Jabil does sponsor H-1B visas, and Maintenance Technician roles are among the technical positions included in that sponsorship activity. Approval depends on whether the specific role qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS criteria, which typically requires a bachelor's degree or its equivalent in a relevant technical field. Candidates with formal engineering technology degrees or equivalent credentialed experience are best positioned for H-1B sponsorship in this role.
How do I apply for Maintenance Technician jobs at Jabil?
You can browse and apply for Maintenance Technician roles at Jabil through Migrate Mate, which filters listings by visa sponsorship eligibility so you can focus on positions where international candidates are actively considered. When applying, tailor your resume to highlight hands-on experience with the equipment types Jabil uses in electronics manufacturing, including automated assembly lines, SMT equipment, and industrial control systems.
Which visa types are commonly used for Maintenance Technician roles at Jabil?
Jabil sponsors multiple visa categories for technical roles, including H-1B, TN visa, and F-1 OPT and CPT for students or recent graduates in engineering or technology programs. For longer-term work authorization, EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa pathways are also available, typically requiring a DOL PERM labor certification. The right visa type depends on your nationality, education level, and how the specific role is classified.
What qualifications does Jabil expect for sponsored Maintenance Technician roles?
Jabil generally looks for candidates with hands-on experience maintaining automated manufacturing equipment, particularly in electronics or semiconductor environments. Familiarity with PLCs, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and preventive maintenance protocols is commonly expected. For visa sponsorship purposes, a formal degree or diploma in electrical technology, mechanical engineering, or a closely related field strengthens your case significantly, especially for H-1B classification.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Jabil Maintenance Technician role?
Timelines vary by visa type. H-1B petitions are subject to the annual lottery in March, with employment starting October 1 at the earliest, though premium processing through USCIS can reduce adjudication to 15 business days once selected. TN status for Canadian nationals can be granted at the border on the same day. EB-3 green card processing through DOL PERM typically takes one to three years before reaching an immigrant visa stage.
