Our development pipeline represents one of the nation's largest portfolios of solar with integrated storage, capable of providing dispatchable power to 17 million Americans, day and night. With over a decade of industry leadership and strategic investment from KKR and EIG, Avantus delivers affordable, reliable clean energy solutions that meet America's growing energy demand.
ABOUT THE POSITION
Avantus is seeking an experienced Scheduling Manager to join its Project Controls team. This individual will serve as a subject matter expert in project scheduling, leading a small team of contract schedulers and owning schedule integrity across Avantus's portfolio of renewable energy projects. The Scheduling Manager will be primarily responsible for twelve late-stage projects while also providing scheduling guidance and oversight for dozens of early-stage projects. The role requires deep expertise in solar-plus-storage project delivery within multi-EPC environments, strong collaboration skills, and the ability to synthesize complex scheduling inputs into clear, actionable project schedules. This is a hybrid position based out of San Diego, CA, reporting to the Director of Project Controls.

- Develop project schedules from standard templates at the initiation of the preconstruction phase, and manage and update schedules throughout preconstruction in close collaboration with the project lead.
- Build and maintain master project schedules in both Primavera OPC (P6) and Microsoft Project, integrating inputs from multiple EPC schedules into a single cohesive view.
- Identify logical interdependencies, interface points, and conflicts across EPC schedules; escalate and resolve conflicts proactively.
- Review and validate EPC-submitted schedules for completeness, logic, and alignment with contractual milestones and project objectives.
Cash Flow & Cost Loading
- Partner with the Senior Cost Manager to produce project cash flows through cost-loaded scheduling methodologies.
- Apply best practices for cost loading and resource loading within P6 and Microsoft Project to support accurate cash flow forecasting.

Systems & Process
- Serve as a power user of Sitetracker.
- Maintain consistency and data integrity across scheduling tools, including Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and Sitetracker.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of scheduling templates, processes, and standards across the Project Controls function.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Target roles aligned with Green Card sponsorship
Avantus's sponsorship activity centers on permanent residence pathways rather than H-1B. Focus your applications on roles in construction management, real estate development, or engineering where EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship is most likely to be offered.
Leverage your F-1 OPT or CPT status as a starting point
Avantus has sponsored F-1 OPT and CPT candidates, making it a viable target if you're a recent graduate. Joining on OPT gives both you and the employer time to assess fit before committing to a longer-term Green Card process.
Understand the EB-2 and EB-3 timeline before applying
Green Card sponsorship through Avantus involves a multi-year process including PERM labor certification. Going in with realistic expectations about the timeline shows employers you're serious and reduces friction during sponsorship conversations.
Highlight specialized construction or real estate expertise
Avantus operates in a technical, project-driven industry. Candidates with niche skills in areas like infrastructure, commercial development, or project finance are stronger sponsorship candidates because their expertise is harder to source domestically.
Confirm TN eligibility if you're Canadian or Mexican
Avantus has sponsored TN visas, which is particularly useful for Canadian and Mexican professionals in qualifying roles like engineers or scientists. TN status can be a faster entry point than waiting for Green Card processing to begin.
Find Avantus job openings through a verified sponsorship platform
Sponsorship policies change over time, so it pays to search where data is current. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and find Avantus roles that match your visa type.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Avantus sponsor H-1B visas?
Based on available sponsorship data, Avantus does not have a track record of H-1B visa sponsorship. The company's visa activity has focused on permanent residence pathways such as EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards, along with F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and TN visas. Candidates seeking H-1B sponsorship should clarify this directly with Avantus's hiring team before applying.
What visa types does Avantus sponsor?
Avantus sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards, making it a strong option for candidates pursuing permanent residence through employer sponsorship. The company also supports F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and TN visa holders. This mix suggests Avantus is open to international candidates at various stages of their immigration journey, from early-career OPT to long-term Green Card pathways.
Which roles or departments at Avantus are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Given Avantus's focus on Construction and Real Estate, sponsorship is most commonly associated with technical and specialized roles, such as project managers, engineers, financial analysts, and development professionals. Roles requiring niche expertise that's difficult to source locally tend to attract the strongest case for employer-sponsored immigration support at companies operating in this sector.
How do I apply for a sponsored position at Avantus?
Start by identifying open roles at Avantus that match your background and visa type. Review the job description carefully for any mention of sponsorship eligibility, then address your visa status directly in your cover letter or early in the interview process. For F-1 candidates, emphasizing OPT or CPT availability reduces perceived risk for the employer before a Green Card process begins.
How do I find current visa-sponsored jobs at Avantus?
The most reliable approach is to use a platform that tracks real sponsorship history rather than self-reported employer claims. Migrate Mate indexes companies like Avantus based on verified sponsorship filings, so you can filter job listings by visa type and sponsorship track record. This saves significant time compared to manually screening roles that may not lead to sponsorship.
