- Develop action plans (i.e., weekly, quarterly, monthly) by analyzing quarterly and monthly sales figures and reports identifying the needs of particular accounts and discussing issues with Regional Sales Manager to help the organization achieve its annual sales goal.
- Determine the needs (e.g., product and pricing), goals, product usage, and types of cases handled by specific customers by meeting with and asking in-depth questions of physicians and other hospital personnel.
- Establish pricing packages to establish price points that address specific customer's needs while satisfying company guidelines and policies.
- Respond to customer needs and complaints regarding products and service by developing creative and feasible solutions or working with other related personnel (e.g. clinical research, pricing and/or marketing) to develop optimal solutions.
- Develop relationships with hospital personnel (e.g. through casual conversation, meetings, participation in conferences) to make new contacts in other departments within hospital and to identify key purchasing decision makers in order to facilitate future sales.
- Educate customers on the merits and proper clinical usage of company products by giving presentations and demonstrations using a wide variety of formats and platforms (e.g., slides, transparencies, manuals) to secure purchasing commitments, often with the help of incentive programs and services made available to the account being developed.
Required qualifications:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree OR equivalent field clinical/sales experience.
- Minimum of 2 years medical device, pharmaceutical, or related sales experience.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience selling cardiac monitoring equipment or cardiac related devices.
- Direct selling experience to physicians and hospitals.

Frame Your Credentials Around Clinical Commercialization
Boston Scientific's Business Development team works across cardiovascular, urology, and neuromodulation product lines. Tailor your resume to show experience bridging clinical environments and commercial outcomes, not just sales metrics, since the role demands technical fluency alongside deal-making skills.
Target Roles Aligned With High-Growth Divisions
Boston Scientific concentrates Business Development hiring in divisions launching new devices or expanding market access. Research their current portfolio priorities and apply to roles in those therapeutic areas, since hiring managers in growth divisions typically move faster and have more flexibility on sponsorship.
Verify Your Specialty Occupation Standing Early
H-1B eligibility for Business Development roles depends on demonstrating specialty occupation status, which USCIS scrutinizes heavily for commercial roles. Ensure your offer letter specifies a degree requirement in a directly related field like biomedical engineering, life sciences, or health economics before the petition is filed.
Sequence Your Start Date Around H-1B Cap Timelines
If you need cap-subject H-1B sponsorship, USCIS registration opens in March for an October 1 start. Coordinate your offer acceptance and notice period with this window, since Boston Scientific will need lead time to prepare the Labor Condition Application with the DOL before filing.
Position Yourself for Internal Transfer After Initial Hire
Boston Scientific occasionally brings Business Development candidates in through clinical or marketing functions first, then transitions them internally. If direct Business Development openings aren't available in your preferred location, a lateral entry through a related function can accelerate your path to the target role.
Use Migrate Mate to Surface Active Openings Quickly
Business Development roles at Boston Scientific post and close on unpredictable cycles tied to divisional headcount approvals. Use Migrate Mate to filter for current Boston Scientific Business Development openings that explicitly support visa sponsorship, so you're not sorting through listings that won't move your immigration forward.

Find Business Development at Boston Scientific JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Boston Scientific sponsor H-1B visas for Business Developments?
Yes, Boston Scientific sponsors H-1B visas for Business Development roles where the position qualifies as a specialty occupation. The role must require a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field like life sciences, biomedical engineering, or business with a clinical focus. Your offer letter should clearly articulate the degree requirement before the H-1B petition is filed with USCIS.
How do I apply for Business Development jobs at Boston Scientific?
You can browse current Business Development openings at Boston Scientific through Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for roles that support visa sponsorship. When applying, tailor your application to the therapeutic area the role covers, since Boston Scientific's hiring managers prioritize candidates with demonstrated knowledge of the device category, clinical environment, and commercial strategy relevant to that division.
Which visa types does Boston Scientific commonly use for Business Development roles?
Boston Scientific primarily uses the H-1B visa for Business Development professionals in nonimmigrant status. For longer-term immigration, they support employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3, typically initiated through the PERM labor certification process with the DOL. The appropriate category depends on the role's requirements and your educational background.
What qualifications does Boston Scientific expect for Business Development roles?
Boston Scientific typically looks for a bachelor's degree in a life sciences, engineering, or business-related field, often supplemented by experience in medical device commercialization, clinical sales, or strategic partnerships. For senior roles, an MBA or advanced clinical degree is common. Direct exposure to the specific therapeutic area, whether cardiovascular, endoscopy, or neuromodulation, is a meaningful differentiator during screening.
How do I plan my timeline if I need H-1B sponsorship for a Boston Scientific role?
If you require a new cap-subject H-1B, USCIS registration typically opens in March each year for an October 1 start date. Your employer needs to file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before the H-1B petition can be submitted. Build at least four to six months of runway between your offer acceptance and your intended start date to account for registration, lottery selection, and petition preparation.
