Departmental Objective
To insure student housing/dormitory facilities are maintained to a highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and comfort for the students of CNU.
Purpose of the Position
To perform light to moderate maintenance objectives, in a timely manner and within budget constraints; to include all campus housing systems, consisting of 3,900 student domiciles.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Related to Position
- Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.
- Basic computer skills.
- Under minimal supervision, must be able to trouble shoot and perform duties involving moderately complex carpentry, plumbing, understanding of HVAC systems, flooring/carpets and carpet tiles, ceiling tiles and frames, doors and locks, paint/patching of walls and ceilings, understanding of fire alarms/panels, gas fire places, electric/gas appliances, and electrical work such as ballasts, fluorescent and LED lighting.
- Ability to perform repairs in residential areas where students, faculty, or staff may be present.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions and to perform some manual labor.
- Ability to escort vendors while on campus, for the purpose of answering questions and providing entry to secure areas.
- Ability to complete routine residential or commercial repairs, be able to prioritize work orders, and inform management of potential issues.
- Ability to work a daytime schedule and be on-call on a rotating basis. Additional hours may be required to complete summer room turnover or in an emergency.
- Ability to abide by all safety policies and wear personal protective equipment as required.
Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required
Education: High school graduate or equivalent education and experience that equates to a high school diploma
Experience:
- Experience using hand tools, power drills, tap/die sets, power augers, or handsaws
- Hands-on experience with basic residential or commercial maintenance
