ROLE
We are seeking a Junior System Engineer to contribute to IT infrastructure operations. The position will work under the direction of system management and be responsible for providing tier I & II technical assistance and support related to server systems, storage, and/or software. The candidate is passionate about expanding their knowledge in technology and seeking opportunities to play a foundational role in the team. Furthermore, the candidate is self-motivated and a problem-solver who is well-versed in system administration.
Responsibilities
- Track and manage hardware and software assets, including applications.
- Maintain uptime and reliability of infrastructure systems and hardware.
- Monitor system services, configure alerts, and optimize metrics.
- Troubleshoot and resolve IT service issues related to user support.
- Provide Tier I & II global server administration support.
- Document and improve procedures/SOPs; collaborate with senior team members to create new operational guidelines.
- Participate in security patch management.
- Recommend enhancements for IT services and systems.
- Participate in on-call rotation.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of experience with Windows, Linux, and virtualization technologies.
- 1+ Cloud management, including deployment and monitoring.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for VMWare, Linux, and Windows environments.
- Proficiency in VMWare ESXi & vCenter.
- Solid understanding of networking protocols (Layers 1–7).
- Experience with Linux scripting and automation.
- Familiarity with major system hardware.
- Ability to develop scripts and automation using Python, Ansible, Shell, etc.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with server readiness automation (e.g., Kickstart scripts, PXE boot).
- Cloud administration experience (AWS or GCP).
- FreeIPA administration knowledge.
- Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field.
The base salary range for this position is $75,000 – $110,000 a year. The base salary ultimately offered is determined through a review of education, experience, training, skills, qualifications, and location. This position is also eligible for a discretionary bonus, equity and a full range of medical and other benefits.
