Align your degree to the role
Airbnb's E-3 filings concentrate in technical disciplines. Before applying, verify that your degree field directly matches the SOC code for your target role, a mismatch is the most common reason E-3 petitions get challenged during the LCA stage.
Research Airbnb's prevailing wage threshold
Use the OFLC Wage Search to find the prevailing wage for your target role and location before your offer stage. Airbnb's San Francisco and New York roles often sit at Level III or IV wages, so knowing the floor strengthens your salary negotiation.
Target teams with recurring E-3 hiring patterns
Airbnb's infrastructure, machine learning, and trust and safety engineering teams have historically been active sponsors. Focusing your applications on these verticals, rather than applying broadly, increases the chance your recruiter has navigated E-3 paperwork before.
Confirm Airbnb's LCA filing timeline early
Ask your recruiter when the LCA gets submitted to DOL after offer acceptance. DOL certifies most LCAs within seven business days, but the clock on your consulate appointment prep doesn't start until that certification lands, factor this into your start date negotiation.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified E-3 openings at Airbnb
Search Migrate Mate to filter Airbnb roles by E-3 sponsorship history. The platform surfaces DOL Labor Condition Application data so you can identify which job families Airbnb has actively sponsored, saving time on roles where E-3 support is unlikely.
Prepare your specialty occupation documentation before the interview
Pull the O*NET profile for your target role and note the listed education and training requirements. At Airbnb's scale, HR teams move quickly after offer, and having your degree equivalency evidence and job description cross-reference ready prevents delays at the consulate preparation stage.
Airbnb E-3 Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Airbnb sponsor E-3 visas?
Yes, Airbnb sponsors E-3 visas for eligible Australian nationals in qualifying specialty occupation roles. Sponsorship is most common in software engineering, data science, and product management. Airbnb has a structured immigration program, so E-3 candidates in technical roles can expect an established process rather than a one-off arrangement.
Which departments at Airbnb are most likely to sponsor E-3 visas?
Technical roles in engineering, data, and product have the strongest E-3 sponsorship track record at Airbnb. Business functions such as finance, marketing, and operations may qualify if the role meets the specialty occupation standard under USCIS guidelines, but those cases require closer review of the job description against your degree field.
How do I apply for an E-3 visa through Airbnb?
After Airbnb extends a formal offer, their immigration team files a Labor Condition Application with DOL. Once the LCA is certified, you schedule a consulate interview in Australia and bring the certified LCA, your DS-160, passport, and degree credentials. Airbnb's HR team coordinates the employer-side paperwork, but you manage the consulate appointment and supporting documents.
How long does the E-3 sponsorship process take at Airbnb?
From offer acceptance to visa stamp, most Airbnb E-3 candidates complete the process in four to eight weeks. DOL typically certifies the LCA within seven business days. Consulate appointment availability in Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth drives most of the variance. Start date negotiations should account for appointment wait times, which fluctuate by location and season.
How do I find E-3 jobs at Airbnb that include visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate filters Airbnb job listings by E-3 sponsorship history using DOL Labor Condition Application data, so you can focus on roles the company has actively supported rather than guessing. Cross-reference open roles against Airbnb's engineering and product teams, where E-3 sponsorship is most consistently available, before reaching out to recruiters.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 sponsorship at Airbnb?
E-3 employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, determined when they file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, ensuring Australian hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
