Target teams with active LCA filings
Amazon's E-3 filings concentrate in software development, machine learning, and AWS infrastructure roles. Search DOL Labor Condition Application disclosure data to identify which job families and Amazon subsidiaries have the strongest recent E-3 filing history before you apply.
Align your degree field to the job description
Amazon's recruiters and immigration counsel verify that your degree directly relates to the role, not just the industry. A computer science degree won't support an E-3 for a finance analyst position at Amazon, even if you've done the work before.
Use Migrate Mate to check Amazon's sponsorship record
Before you invest time in Amazon's interview process, search Migrate Mate to review Amazon's verified E-3 LCA filing history by role and location. This shows you which teams are actively sponsoring and filters out positions where E-3 isn't in play.
Clarify sponsorship scope during the recruiter screen
Amazon's hiring teams vary in their familiarity with the E-3. Ask explicitly whether the specific team and hiring manager have sponsored E-3 visas before, not just whether Amazon as a company does. This surfaces blockers early.
Prepare your LCA documents before the offer stage
Amazon's immigration team files the Labor Condition Application with DOL once you have a firm offer. Having your degree transcripts, credential evaluations for Australian qualifications, and job description documentation ready shortens the time between offer and LCA submission.
Verify the prevailing wage against your offer
Amazon must certify your offered salary meets or exceeds the DOL prevailing wage for your role, level, and location. Cross-check your expected offer against the OFLC Wage Search before negotiating compensation to ensure the role is LCA-eligible at your target salary.
Amazon E-3 Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Amazon sponsor E-3 visas?
Yes, Amazon sponsors E-3 visas for Australian citizens in qualifying specialty occupation roles. Sponsorship is most consistent in software engineering, data science, and cloud infrastructure positions within its technology and AWS divisions. Not every team sponsors E-3, so confirming with your specific recruiter during the hiring process is important before advancing to the offer stage.
Which Amazon roles and departments typically get E-3 sponsorship?
E-3 sponsorship at Amazon is most common in software development, machine learning engineering, solutions architecture, and technical product management. Roles within AWS and Amazon's core retail technology teams generate the majority of filings. Business, operations, and non-technical roles are less consistently sponsored, though sponsorship ultimately depends on the hiring team's budget and timeline.
How do I apply for an E-3 visa through Amazon?
Once Amazon extends a formal offer, their in-house immigration team files the Labor Condition Application with DOL on your behalf. After LCA certification, you take the approved LCA to your U.S. consulate interview in Australia to apply for the E-3 stamp directly. USCIS is not involved in the standard consular E-3 process. Migrate Mate can handle the filing preparation if you're managing any part of this independently.
How long does the E-3 sponsorship process take at Amazon?
The DOL typically certifies an LCA within seven business days of submission. From there, consulate appointment availability in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth determines your overall timeline. In practice, most candidates move from signed offer to visa stamp in four to eight weeks, though consulate backlogs during peak periods can extend this. Amazon's immigration team generally moves quickly once an offer is finalized.
How do I find open E-3 jobs at Amazon?
Search Amazon's careers portal filtering for roles in software engineering, cloud services, and technical product management. To confirm which positions are actively sponsored for E-3, use Migrate Mate to cross-reference Amazon's DOL Labor Condition Application filing history by job title and location. This helps you prioritize applications for roles where E-3 sponsorship is already established rather than negotiating it from scratch.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 sponsorship at Amazon?
E-3 employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, determined when they file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, ensuring Australian hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
