Match your credentials to specialty occupation standards
Children's Hospital evaluates E-3 eligibility against the specialty occupation definition, so your degree must directly correspond to the clinical or technical role you're applying for. Review the O*NET occupation profile for your target role to confirm the required field of study before applying.
Target departments with consistent E-3 hiring patterns
Clinical departments like nursing, pediatric therapy, and diagnostic imaging at children's hospitals tend to generate the most E-3 filings. Prioritize roles in those units rather than administrative or general support functions, which rarely meet the specialty occupation threshold required by USCIS.
Get your credentials evaluated before the offer stage
Australian nursing and allied health qualifications often require foreign credential evaluation before a U.S. employer can confirm specialty occupation status. Arrange a credential evaluation through a NACES-member organization before you reach the offer stage to avoid delays in the LCA filing process.
Confirm the LCA wage tier in your offer negotiation
Your offer salary must meet or exceed the prevailing wage for your role and work location, as certified by DOL. Cross-check the wage level assigned to your position using the OFLC Wage Search tool before signing, since wage tier disputes after the LCA is filed are difficult to correct.
Use Migrate Mate to manage your E-3 filing after the offer
Once Children's Hospital extends an offer, the E-3 filing requires coordinating the LCA, DS-160, and consular appointment in the correct sequence. Migrate Mate handles the full filing process at a flat fee, so you're not piecing together the steps independently or relying solely on the employer's HR team.
Prepare for credentialing delays that can affect your start date
Children's hospitals often require state licensure or board certification before your first shift, independent of visa approval. Build extra lead time into your timeline by starting the state licensing application as soon as you receive a conditional offer, so credentialing doesn't push back your start date.
Boston Children's Hospital E-3 Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Children's Hospital sponsor E-3 visas?
Yes, Children's Hospital sponsors E-3 visas for Australian nationals in qualifying specialty occupation roles. Sponsorship is most consistent in clinical and allied health departments where the degree requirement is clearly tied to the position. You'll need a confirmed job offer and a role that meets the USCIS specialty occupation definition before the process can begin.
Which roles and departments at Children's Hospital typically receive E-3 sponsorship?
E-3 sponsorship at Children's Hospital is most common in clinical roles such as registered nursing, pediatric therapy, medical imaging, and laboratory sciences. These positions have clearly defined degree requirements that satisfy the specialty occupation standard. Administrative, support, and general operations roles are less likely to qualify, so focus your search on licensed clinical or technical positions.
How does the E-3 application process work at Children's Hospital?
After you receive a job offer, Children's Hospital files a Labor Condition Application with DOL to certify the prevailing wage. You then complete the DS-160, pay the MRV fee, and attend a consular interview at a U.S. embassy in Australia. USCIS is not involved in the consular E-3 path, which keeps the process faster than H-1B visa sponsorship.
How long does the E-3 sponsorship process take at Children's Hospital?
The DOL LCA certification typically takes around seven business days. Consular appointment wait times in Australia vary by city and season, but most applicants complete the full process within four to eight weeks of receiving their offer. Building in extra time for credential evaluation and state licensure is advisable, as those steps run parallel and can extend your overall timeline.
How do I find and apply for E-3 jobs at Children's Hospital?
Search Children's Hospital's careers portal directly for open clinical and allied health positions, then confirm the role qualifies as a specialty occupation before applying. Migrate Mate lists employers with verified E-3 filing history, so you can identify active sponsoring facilities and apply to roles where the employer is already familiar with the E-3 process.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 sponsorship at Children S Hospital?
E-3 employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, determined when they file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, ensuring Australian hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
