Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
Jacobs Associates files E-3 petitions for roles that meet DOL's specialty occupation threshold, meaning your degree must directly relate to the position. Review the O*NET occupation profile for your target role to confirm the typical education requirements before applying.
Target technical consulting and engineering openings first
Jacobs Associates's consulting and infrastructure practices generate the most E-3 filings. Focus your search on project engineering, advisory, and technical specialist roles rather than generalist positions, which are harder to qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS standards.
Request LCA filing confirmation before accepting an offer
Before you sign an offer letter, confirm that Jacobs Associates's HR team has initiated the Labor Condition Application with DOL. The LCA must be certified before your consulate appointment, and delays at this stage are the most common source of timeline slippage.
Use Migrate Mate to benchmark your offered salary
Run your offered role and location through Migrate Mate to check whether your salary meets the prevailing wage level DOL requires for E-3 LCA certification. A wage below the threshold triggers an LCA rejection that stalls the entire application at Jacobs Associates.
Prepare for a specialty occupation RFE if your degree field is broad
USCIS occasionally issues Requests for Evidence when an applicant's degree is in a general field like business or science rather than a directly related discipline. Work with Jacobs Associates's immigration counsel to prepare a detailed position description and degree equivalency letter in advance.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before your start date
Jacobs Associates, as a federal contractor with government-facing consulting engagements, is required to use E-Verify. Confirm your Form I-9 and E-Verify steps are scheduled for your first day so your E-3 employment authorization is on record without interruption.
Delve Underground E-3 Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Jacobs Associates sponsor E-3 visas?
Yes, Jacobs Associates sponsors E-3 visas for eligible Australian nationals. The company has an active visa sponsorship program covering both H-1B and E-3 classifications, primarily for technical, engineering, and consulting roles that meet the specialty occupation definition required by USCIS and DOL.
Which roles at Jacobs Associates typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship?
Engineering, project management, technical advisory, and professional consulting positions are the most common E-3-sponsored roles at Jacobs Associates. These roles typically require a relevant bachelor's degree or higher, satisfy the specialty occupation threshold, and align with the firm's core infrastructure and professional services practices.
How do I start the E-3 application process at Jacobs Associates?
Once you receive a job offer, Jacobs Associates's HR or immigration team files the Labor Condition Application with DOL. After LCA certification, you complete the DS-160, schedule your consulate interview in Australia, and present the certified LCA along with your offer letter and credentials at the appointment.
How long does the E-3 sponsorship process take at Jacobs Associates?
From offer acceptance to visa stamp, the process typically runs four to eight weeks for straightforward cases. The DOL LCA certification usually takes seven business days. Consulate appointment availability in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth then drives most of the remaining timeline variation.
How do I find open E-3 jobs at Jacobs Associates?
Search Migrate Mate to filter Jacobs Associates openings by visa sponsorship type, which surfaces roles the company has historically filed E-3 or H-1B petitions for. Targeting roles in engineering and technical consulting gives you the strongest alignment with Jacobs Associates's documented sponsorship activity and specialty occupation filing history.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 sponsorship at Jacobs Associates?
E-3 employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, determined when they file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, ensuring Australian hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
