Match your degree to the role
Lucid's E-3 roles in powertrain, battery systems, and vehicle dynamics require a degree in a directly related field. A software engineering degree won't support an E-3 application for a mechanical role at Lucid, even with years of hands-on experience in that area.
Target engineering and technical openings
Lucid's E-3 sponsorship activity concentrates in roles requiring specialized engineering credentials, not generalist or support functions. Focus your applications on job postings that list a specific bachelor's degree as a requirement, not just a preference, to avoid an uphill specialty occupation argument.
Verify your prevailing wage before negotiating
Before you receive an offer, look up your occupation code in the OFLC Wage Search for the relevant Arizona or California work location. Lucid's LCA must certify a wage at or above the DOL prevailing wage level, so knowing this floor protects you during salary discussions.
Confirm Lucid's LCA filing readiness early
Ask your recruiter whether Lucid's legal team has handled E-3 filings before and whether they use in-house counsel or an outside firm. The LCA must be certified by DOL before your consular appointment, so knowing the internal process avoids last-minute delays.
Use Migrate Mate to check Lucid's filing history
Before applying, search Lucid's LCA disclosure data on Migrate Mate to see which job titles and work locations they've previously filed for under the E-3. This tells you which teams have sponsored before and which role categories are already established in their process.
Prepare your specialty occupation documentation
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree for E-3 purposes, but bring your academic transcripts and any relevant credentials to the consular interview. Consulate officers at Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth may ask for evidence of degree equivalency.
Lucid USA, Inc. E-3 Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Lucid sponsor E-3 visas?
Yes, Lucid sponsors E-3 visas for qualified Australian professionals. Sponsorship is most active in technical and engineering disciplines tied to Lucid's core vehicle development work, including software, electrical, and mechanical engineering roles. Generalist or administrative positions are less likely to meet the specialty occupation standard required for E-3 approval.
Which roles at Lucid are most likely to get E-3 sponsorship?
Roles in powertrain engineering, battery systems, software development, and autonomous driving technology are the strongest candidates for E-3 sponsorship at Lucid. These positions typically require a specific bachelor's degree in a related field, which satisfies USCIS's specialty occupation definition. Roles where any degree would qualify are harder to support under E-3.
How do I start the E-3 application process at Lucid?
Once Lucid extends an offer, their legal team files a Labor Condition Application with DOL. After LCA certification, you complete the DS-160, pay the MRV fee, and attend a consular interview in Australia. Lucid does not need to file a petition with USCIS before your interview, which is one reason the E-3 process moves faster than H-1B visa sponsorship.
How long does E-3 sponsorship take at Lucid?
The DOL typically certifies the LCA within seven business days. From there, consular appointment availability in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth is the main variable. Most applicants complete the full process within four to eight weeks of receiving an offer, though consulate backlogs during peak periods can extend that timeline.
How do I find open E-3 jobs at Lucid?
Search Lucid's careers page and filter by engineering and technical roles, then cross-reference the job titles against Lucid's historical LCA filings on Migrate Mate to identify which departments have sponsored before. Prioritize roles that list a specific degree as a hard requirement, since those are structurally aligned with the E-3 specialty occupation standard.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 sponsorship at Lucid?
E-3 employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, determined when they file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, ensuring Australian hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
