Align your degree to Meta's role taxonomy
Meta's E-3 filings skew heavily toward roles requiring a directly related degree, not just any technical background. Before applying, verify your degree field maps to the specific job title using O*NET to confirm the specialty occupation classification matches your credentials.
Target teams with recurring E-3 filing history
Meta's infrastructure, AI research, and ads engineering teams have demonstrated consistent E-3 hiring patterns. Prioritizing roles within these organizations improves your odds of finding a hiring manager already familiar with the E-3 process and willing to file promptly.
Confirm prevailing wage compliance before negotiating
Meta's LCA must certify your offered salary meets the DOL prevailing wage for your role and location. Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the applicable wage level before your offer discussion so you can negotiate from an informed baseline.
Get your DS-160 and supporting documents ready early
Once Meta's HR team submits the certified LCA, the consular appointment can move quickly. Having your DS-160 completed, passport validity confirmed, and degree credentials organized before the offer stage prevents delays at the Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth consulate.
Use Migrate Mate to file your E-3 efficiently
After Meta certifies your LCA, the filing steps are yours to manage. Migrate Mate handles the E-3 application paperwork with a dedicated visa expert, so you're not navigating USCIS requirements alone while also coordinating your start date with Meta's onboarding team.
Clarify Meta's internal process for E-3 versus H-1B
Meta sponsors both E-3 and H-1B visas, and internal routing between immigration teams can vary. Confirm explicitly with your recruiter that your file is being handled as an E-3 case, since the timelines, consulate requirements, and LCA wage levels differ significantly from H-1B processing.
Meta E-3 Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Meta Platforms sponsor E-3 visas?
Yes, Meta Platforms sponsors E-3 visas for Australian nationals in qualifying specialty occupation roles. Meta has an established immigration program that handles E-3 filings, particularly for technical and engineering positions. Australian candidates should confirm E-3 eligibility directly with the recruiter during the offer stage, as internal routing can vary by team.
Which roles at Meta Platforms typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship?
E-3 sponsorship at Meta most commonly applies to software engineering, machine learning engineering, product management, data science, and technical program management roles. These positions typically satisfy the specialty occupation requirement because they mandate a directly related bachelor's degree. Research roles in AI and infrastructure have also seen consistent E-3 filing activity.
How do I navigate the E-3 application process at Meta Platforms?
Meta's immigration team files the Labor Condition Application with DOL on your behalf after you accept an offer. Once the LCA is certified, you complete the DS-160, schedule a consular interview in Australia, and attend your appointment with the certified LCA, offer letter, and degree credentials. Migrate Mate can help you manage the application steps on your end.
How long does E-3 sponsorship take at Meta Platforms?
The DOL typically certifies an LCA within seven business days. After that, consular appointment availability in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth is the main variable, ranging from a few weeks to over a month depending on current demand. Meta's immigration team generally moves efficiently once an offer is accepted, but build buffer into your start date planning.
How do I strengthen my E-3 application for a role at Meta Platforms?
Confirm your degree field directly maps to the job title before applying, since Meta's LCA filings are occupation-specific. Review the applicable DOL prevailing wage using the OFLC Wage Search so your salary expectations align with what Meta can certify. Having your degree transcripts and supporting credentials organized before the offer stage also speeds up the process significantly.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 sponsorship at Meta Platforms?
E-3 employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, determined when they file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, ensuring Australian hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
