Align your degree to the role
Riot Games hires for specialty occupations, so your Australian degree must directly relate to the job you're applying for. A software engineering degree supporting a backend engineer role is straightforward; a general business degree for a product manager position requires stronger documentation.
Target engineering and technical teams first
Riot's strongest E-3 hiring sits in software engineering, data engineering, and platform infrastructure. These teams have well-defined degree requirements that satisfy E-3's specialty occupation standard more cleanly than creative or generalist roles.
Confirm sponsorship intent before final-round interviews
Ask the recruiter directly whether the role is open to E-3 applicants before you reach the offer stage. Riot's recruiting teams handle sponsorship decisions at the team level, so early confirmation avoids delays after an offer is extended.
Check your prevailing wage before negotiating
Your E-3 salary must meet the DOL prevailing wage for your role and location. Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the wage level for your job title in Los Angeles or the city where Riot is hiring before you enter salary discussions.
Use Migrate Mate to file your E-3 after the offer
Once Riot's HR team certifies the Labor Condition Application with DOL, you handle the consulate filing yourself. Migrate Mate assigns a dedicated E-3 expert to prepare your application and file within one business day of receiving your documents.
Prepare your O*NET occupation profile early
Pull your O*NET occupation profile before your interview so you can speak precisely to how your target role meets the specialty occupation definition. Riot's hiring managers value technical precision, and arriving with this evidence signals preparation.
Riot Games E-3 Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Riot Games sponsor E-3 visas?
Yes, Riot Games sponsors E-3 visas for eligible Australian citizens in qualifying specialty occupation roles. Sponsorship is most consistently available in technical disciplines such as software engineering and data engineering. Not every open role is eligible, so confirming sponsorship availability with the recruiter early in the process is essential.
Which departments at Riot Games are most likely to sponsor E-3 visas?
Engineering teams, including backend, platform, and data engineering, are the most active areas for E-3 sponsorship at Riot Games. These roles have clearly defined degree requirements in computer science or related fields, which satisfies the specialty occupation standard USCIS requires. Product and technical design roles may also qualify depending on the specific position.
How do I start the E-3 application process after Riot Games makes an offer?
After accepting an offer, Riot's HR or immigration team files a Labor Condition Application with DOL on your behalf. Once it's certified, you schedule a consulate appointment in Australia and bring your LCA, offer letter, degree credentials, and DS-160 confirmation. Migrate Mate can handle your application preparation and submission to keep the process on track.
How long does E-3 sponsorship take at Riot Games?
The DOL typically certifies Labor Condition Applications within seven business days. After that, consulate appointment availability in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth determines your timeline, with waits currently ranging from a few weeks to several weeks depending on the location and season. Most applicants can start within four to eight weeks of the offer.
How do I strengthen my E-3 application for a role at Riot Games?
Document the direct connection between your Australian degree and the specific role Riot is hiring for. Pull your O*NET occupation profile to confirm the role classifies as a specialty occupation. Verify that your offered salary meets the DOL prevailing wage using the OFLC Wage Search before signing your offer letter, since USCIS will review wage compliance at the consulate.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 sponsorship at Riot Games?
E-3 employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, determined when they file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, ensuring Australian hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
