At Roblox, we’re building the tools and platform that empower our community to bring any experience that they can imagine to life. Our vision is to reimagine the way people come together, from anywhere in the world, and on any device. We’re on a mission to connect a billion people with optimism and civility, and looking for amazing talent to help us get there.
A career at Roblox means you’ll be working to shape the future of human interaction, solving unique technical challenges at scale, and helping to create safer, more civil shared experiences for everyone.
The Consumer Platform team owns the mobile app foundation that makes Roblox feel fast, fluid, and reliable for millions of players and is dedicated to delivering superior performance, reliability, and user experience on all platforms Roblox runs on. This team ensures a seamless and engaging user interface that facilitates intuitive interactions, alongside maintaining high performance and reliability for efficient, glitch-free operations. Innovation is at the core of our work, as we continuously enhance features and integrate cutting-edge technologies to find novel solutions to problems. We're hiring an exceptional iOS engineer to help us push the bar even higher.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
You will:
- Shape & improve the iOS experience that millions of players open every day.
- Lead architecture and implementation on a large, evolving Swift/Objective-C codebase, making decisions that hold up across years of product growth.
- Push the platform forward by adopting the latest iOS, hardware, and iOS capabilities.
- Partner deeply with product, design, and data science to materialize ideas.
- Raise the engineering bar through code review, technical mentorship, and the standards you set in your own work.
- (Principal) Set technical direction across multiple workstreams, drive multi-quarter initiatives that span teams, and act as a force multiplier for the broader iOS platform.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
You have:
- 5+ years of track record of leading the design and delivery of mobile features at scale.
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Deep, hands-on expertise in Swift and Objective-C, with a real point of view on modern iOS architecture (Swift Concurrency, SwiftUI/UIKit interop, modularization).
- Experience working in very large codebases with many contributors — you know how to ship safely, instrument well, and keep build times sane.
- Strong product sense. You can tell the difference between an interaction that's correct and one that feels right, and you fight for the latter.
- Excellent judgment under ambiguity, and a bias toward shipping over speculating.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Nice to have:
- Cross-platform development with C++ and low-level hardware APIs.
- Experience with rendering, graphics, or game-engine-adjacent systems.
- Contributions to open source, conference talks, or technical writing in the iOS community.
- Experience integrating on-device or server-side generative AI into consumer products.

Map your degree to Roblox's specialty occupation
Roblox's E-3 roles require a direct degree-to-job match. Use O*NET to confirm your occupation qualifies as a specialty occupation, then frame your credentials around the specific engineering or product discipline in the job description.
Target Roblox's technical and infrastructure teams
E-3 sponsorship at Roblox clusters in software engineering, platform infrastructure, and trust and safety roles. Focus your applications on these teams, where the degree-requirement argument is clearest and sponsorship precedent exists.
Raise E-3 sponsorship before the offer stage
Roblox's recruiting process can move quickly. Confirm sponsorship willingness during your final-round conversations, not after the offer arrives. Delays at that stage often come from internal approvals, not unwillingness to sponsor.
Verify your prevailing wage before negotiating salary
Your E-3 offer must meet the DOL prevailing wage for your role and location. Run the OFLC Wage Search for your job title and San Mateo County before negotiations so your expected salary clears the threshold without last-minute adjustments.
File your E-3 paperwork through Migrate Mate
Once Roblox's HR team certifies the LCA with DOL, you handle the consulate application yourself. Migrate Mate manages the DS-160, visa appointment prep, and document checklist so nothing gets missed between the LCA and your interview.
Account for LCA certification timing in your start date
Before your consulate appointment, Roblox must file and receive a certified LCA from DOL, which typically takes around seven business days. Factor this into your start-date negotiation so the timeline is realistic from day one.
Roblox E-3 Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Roblox sponsor E-3 visas?
Yes, Roblox sponsors E-3 visas for qualifying roles. The company has experience with the E-3 process and sponsors Australian professionals primarily in technical disciplines including software engineering and platform roles. Sponsorship is evaluated on a role-by-role basis, so confirming with your recruiter early in the process is the right first step.
Which teams at Roblox typically receive E-3 sponsorship?
E-3 sponsorship at Roblox is most common in software engineering, infrastructure, and technical product roles where a specific degree requirement is easy to establish. Trust and safety and data engineering teams also fit the specialty occupation criteria well. Roles in general operations or non-technical functions are less likely to qualify.
How do I navigate the E-3 application process at Roblox?
Roblox's HR or immigration team files the Labor Condition Application with DOL before you apply at a U.S. consulate in Australia. Once the LCA is certified, you complete the DS-160, pay the visa fee, and attend your consulate interview with the certified LCA and supporting documents. Migrate Mate can manage the applicant-side preparation if you want structured support.
How long does the E-3 sponsorship process take at Roblox?
The employer-side step, LCA certification by DOL, typically takes around seven business days. Consulate appointment availability in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth then determines the remaining timeline. During busy periods, appointments can book out several weeks. Building two to four weeks into your planned start date from the time the LCA is filed is a reasonable buffer.
What can I do to strengthen my E-3 application for a Roblox role?
Document the direct connection between your Australian degree and the specific role you're applying for. Roblox's job descriptions in technical areas reference degree fields clearly, so match your credentials to that language before your interview. Confirm the prevailing wage threshold using the OFLC Wage Search and verify your occupation code aligns with the role via O*NET before your consulate appointment.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 sponsorship at Roblox?
E-3 employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, determined when they file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, ensuring Australian hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
