Align your degree to Seyfarth's practice areas
Seyfarth Shaw's E-3 sponsorship typically covers roles requiring a directly related degree, not just any bachelor's. Map your qualification to a specific practice group, such as labor and employment, real estate, or corporate, before you apply.
Check your occupation's specialty status first
Look up your target role in O*NET before applying. Seyfarth Shaw files LCAs for positions that meet the specialty occupation threshold, so confirming your job code requires a relevant degree protects you from an avoidable denial at the consulate.
Request the LCA before booking your appointment
Seyfarth Shaw's legal team handles the DOL Labor Condition Application, but you're entitled to a certified copy before your visa interview. Confirm the LCA lists the correct wage level and job location, since errors at this stage delay your start date.
Benchmark your salary against the prevailing wage
Use the OFLC Wage Search to verify the prevailing wage for your role and location before negotiating your offer. Law firms occasionally set offers at wage level one, which can trigger scrutiny if your duties more closely match a level two or three classification.
Search Seyfarth Shaw's verified E-3 roles on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters job listings by employers with confirmed E-3 LCA filing history, so you can target Seyfarth Shaw roles where sponsorship is already established rather than guessing which positions the firm will support for Australian nationals.
Prepare for nonimmigrant intent questions upfront
Consular officers interviewing E-3 applicants at Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth regularly probe ties to Australia. Prepare concrete examples of ongoing home-country connections, such as property, family obligations, or professional memberships, before your interview at a U.S. consulate.
Seyfarth Shaw LLP E-3 Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Seyfarth Shaw sponsor E-3 visas?
Yes, Seyfarth Shaw sponsors E-3 visas for eligible Australian nationals in qualifying specialty occupation roles. The firm has an established immigration function that handles Labor Condition Application filings with DOL and supports candidates through the consular process. Sponsorship is typically tied to specific practice group needs rather than being available firm-wide on request.
Which roles at Seyfarth Shaw typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship?
E-3 sponsorship at Seyfarth Shaw tends to cover attorneys, legal analysts, and business services professionals whose roles require a directly related bachelor's degree or higher. Practice groups in labor and employment, real estate, and corporate transactions have historically been active hiring areas. Support roles that don't require a specific degree field are less likely to qualify under E-3 specialty occupation rules.
How do I start the E-3 application process at Seyfarth Shaw?
Once Seyfarth Shaw extends a job offer, their in-house immigration team or outside counsel files a Labor Condition Application with DOL. After LCA certification, you complete the DS-160, pay the MRV fee, and schedule your consular interview in Australia. USCIS is not involved in the standard consular E-3 process, so there's no petition filing or waiting on a USCIS decision.
How long does the E-3 sponsorship process take at Seyfarth Shaw?
The DOL LCA typically certifies within seven business days. From there, your consular appointment wait time depends on the U.S. consulate location in Australia and current scheduling availability. Most candidates who apply at Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth receive a decision the same day as their interview, with passport return within a few business days after approval.
How do I find open E-3 roles at Seyfarth Shaw?
Migrate Mate lists roles from employers with confirmed E-3 LCA filing history, including Seyfarth Shaw, so you can focus your search on positions where sponsorship is already established. Cross-referencing open roles on Migrate Mate with Seyfarth Shaw's careers page gives you the clearest picture of current E-3 opportunities across the firm's U.S. offices.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 sponsorship at Seyfarth Shaw?
E-3 employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, determined when they file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, ensuring Australian hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
