Align your degree to FCA's engineering roles
FCA's E-3 filings skew toward technical and engineering functions. Pull the O*NET occupation profile for your target role and confirm your degree field matches the specialty occupation definition before applying. A mismatch here is the most common early-stage rejection point.
Research FCA's LCA filings by job title
FCA files a Labor Condition Application with DOL for every E-3 hire. Search the OFLC Wage Search tool using FCA as the employer name to identify which job titles and wage levels they've certified previously. This shapes which roles to prioritize in your applications.
Target FCA's product development and powertrain teams
FCA's E-3 activity concentrates in roles tied to vehicle engineering, powertrain systems, and product development. When targeting FCA on job boards, filter specifically for these functions rather than applying broadly. Recruiters in these divisions are more familiar with E-3 sponsorship workflows.
Confirm sponsorship willingness early in interviews
FCA's HR teams handle E-3 logistics, but hiring managers often drive the initial sponsorship decision. Ask directly during your first-round interview whether the team has budget and approval to sponsor E-3 visas. Raising it late in negotiations costs time if the answer is no.
Use Migrate Mate to prepare your E-3 filing documents
Once FCA extends an offer, use Migrate Mate to manage the E-3 filing. Migrate Mate's flat-fee service covers the full document package, including LCA coordination and consular prep, so you're not navigating USCIS requirements solo while also onboarding at a new employer.
Account for FCA's internal approval timeline
Large automotive employers like FCA typically require internal legal and HR sign-off before initiating any visa filing. Build at least two to three weeks of internal processing time into your start date expectations, separate from the DOL's LCA certification window and your consulate appointment wait.
Stellantis E-3 Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does FCA sponsor E-3 visas?
Yes, FCA sponsors E-3 visas for Australian nationals in qualifying specialty occupation roles, primarily within engineering and technical functions. Sponsorship is selective and tied to specific hiring needs rather than offered across all departments. Australian candidates targeting FCA should focus applications on roles where a degree in a directly related field is a stated requirement.
Which roles at FCA are most likely to receive E-3 sponsorship?
FCA's E-3 sponsorship activity is concentrated in engineering disciplines, including powertrain, vehicle dynamics, and product development. Software and systems engineering roles within automotive platforms also align well with E-3 specialty occupation criteria. General business, sales, or operations roles are less likely to qualify unless the position requires a specific technical degree field.
How do I start the E-3 application process after receiving an FCA offer?
After FCA extends an offer, the employer files a Labor Condition Application with DOL. Once certified, you complete the DS-160, pay the MRV fee, and attend a consular interview at a U.S. embassy or consulate in Australia. Migrate Mate can manage the document preparation and LCA coordination so nothing falls through the cracks during this stage.
How long does E-3 sponsorship take at a large employer like FCA?
The DOL typically certifies an LCA within seven business days. However, large employers like FCA add internal legal and HR approval steps before filing begins, which can extend the overall timeline by two to four weeks. Consulate appointment availability in Australia then determines how quickly you can complete the visa interview and receive your passport back.
How do I confirm whether an FCA job listing is open to E-3 sponsorship?
FCA job postings don't always specify E-3 sponsorship eligibility. The most reliable approach is to ask the recruiter directly once you've progressed past the initial screening. You can also cross-reference the role's requirements against USCIS specialty occupation criteria using your degree and the O*NET occupation profile to assess fit before initiating that conversation.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 sponsorship at Fca?
E-3 employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, determined when they file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, ensuring Australian hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
