Match your degree to the role
Zoox's engineering and autonomy roles require a degree in a field that directly corresponds to the position. A general STEM degree won't satisfy E-3 specialty occupation if the job description calls for a specific discipline like electrical engineering or computer science.
Target R&D and autonomy teams
Zoox concentrates its technical hiring in perception, planning, and embedded systems. Filter your job search to these teams, where E-3 eligibility is clearest because roles demand field-specific bachelor's degrees as a baseline requirement.
Confirm E-3 eligibility before the offer stage
Ask the recruiter during the final-round interview whether the role supports E-3 sponsorship. Zoox's recruiting team handles multiple visa types, so being explicit early avoids delays in the offer or filing process.
Use Migrate Mate to verify Zoox's filing history
Before applying, check Migrate Mate to review Zoox's Labor Condition Application records by occupation code. This tells you which roles and job titles Zoox has sponsored before, so you can prioritize openings that match established patterns.
Prepare your LCA wage documentation early
Your employer files the LCA with DOL before your visa application, certifying that your offered salary meets the prevailing wage for the role and location. Cross-check the expected wage range against the OFLC Wage Search to spot any mismatch before the offer is finalized.
Align your O*NET occupation code to your job title
Consular officers assess whether your role qualifies as a specialty occupation using Standard Occupational Classification codes. Look up your intended job title in O*NET to confirm the education requirements match what Zoox lists in the job posting.
Zoox E-3 Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Zoox sponsor E-3 visas?
Yes, Zoox sponsors E-3 visas for Australian nationals in qualifying specialty occupation roles. Sponsorship is most consistent in engineering, software development, and autonomous vehicle systems teams, where roles require a directly related bachelor's degree. Availability depends on the specific position and whether it meets the E-3 specialty occupation definition.
Which roles at Zoox typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship?
Roles in perception engineering, motion planning, embedded software, and robotics research are the strongest candidates for E-3 sponsorship at Zoox. These positions require field-specific degrees that satisfy USCIS's specialty occupation standard. Generalist or operations roles are less likely to qualify unless the job description specifies a degree requirement in a directly related field.
How do I start the E-3 application process at Zoox?
Once Zoox extends a written offer, your employer files a Labor Condition Application with DOL to certify your prevailing wage. You then complete the DS-160 and attend a visa interview at a U.S. consulate in Australia. Zoox's HR or immigration team will coordinate the LCA, but you're responsible for scheduling the consular appointment and preparing your supporting documents.
How long does the E-3 process take at Zoox?
DOL typically certifies an LCA within seven business days. From there, consular appointment availability in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth determines the overall timeline. During standard periods, most applicants receive their E-3 visa within two to four weeks of their interview. Migrate Mate can help you track the filing and document stages to avoid avoidable delays.
What should I bring to my E-3 visa interview for a Zoox role?
Bring your certified LCA, the written job offer from Zoox, your DS-160 confirmation, a valid Australian passport, and academic credentials that confirm your degree aligns with the role. Consular officers may ask how your specific degree field relates to your job title, so be ready to explain the direct connection between your educational background and the position.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 sponsorship at Zoox?
E-3 employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, determined when they file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, ensuring Australian hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
