Verify Your Georgia RN License Early
Georgia requires a state-issued RN license before Emory can file your H-1B petition. Start the endorsement or NCLEX process well before your target start date, since state board processing can add weeks to your timeline.
Target Emory's School-Based and Ambulatory Openings
Emory Healthcare's school nurse roles often sit within its ambulatory care and community health divisions. Search specifically for those department filters when browsing openings, since job titles and posting locations vary across its multi-site network.
Confirm Specialty Occupation Status With Your Recruiter
USCIS requires school nurse roles to qualify as specialty occupations for H-1B eligibility. Ask Emory's recruiter directly whether the specific posting is structured to meet that standard, since job duties and degree requirements in the listing affect petition strength.
Use Migrate Mate to Track Emory's Active Openings
School nurse postings at large health systems fill quickly and are not always syndicated broadly. Use Migrate Mate to filter Emory Healthcare roles by visa sponsorship type so you can apply as soon as positions go live.
Prepare Your Credentials for PERM If Pursuing Green Card
If Emory offers EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship, the DOL PERM labor certification process requires documented proof of your foreign credentials and any U.S. equivalency evaluations. Get a credential evaluation from a NACES-recognized agency before your offer stage.
Clarify OPT or CPT Eligibility With Emory HR Before Accepting
F-1 students on OPT must confirm the role qualifies as directly related to their field of study before their employment start date. Nursing roles typically qualify, but Emory HR will need your OPT card and I-20 on file before your first day.

Find School Nurse at Emory Healthcare JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Emory Healthcare sponsor H-1B visas for School Nurses?
Yes, Emory Healthcare has sponsored H-1B visas for nursing roles, including school nurse positions. Sponsorship is typically tied to a specific job offer, and the role must qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards. Because school nursing requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in nursing, these positions generally meet that threshold, though the exact job description matters.
How do I apply for School Nurse jobs at Emory Healthcare?
Applications go through Emory Healthcare's careers portal, where postings are listed by department and location. You can also use Migrate Mate to browse Emory's school nurse openings filtered by visa sponsorship type, which helps you identify roles where international candidates are actively considered. Tailor your application to reflect Georgia RN licensure and any relevant school or pediatric nursing experience.
Which visa types does Emory Healthcare commonly use for School Nurse roles?
Emory Healthcare has used H-1B, TN, J-1, F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT sponsorship for nursing hires, as well as immigrant visa pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for candidates seeking permanent residence. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nurses who hold qualifying credentials. The right visa type depends on your nationality, current status, and career stage.
What qualifications does Emory Healthcare expect for School Nurse candidates?
Emory typically requires an active Georgia RN license, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and prior clinical or school health experience. Pediatric or community health backgrounds are particularly relevant given the population school nurses serve. Some postings may also require certification such as the National Certified School Nurse credential, so review each listing's requirements carefully before applying.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a School Nurse offer at Emory?
Timeline depends on visa type. H-1B standard processing through USCIS currently runs three to six months, while premium processing can reduce that to 15 business days. TN approval for Canadians is often same-day at the border. EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways involve DOL PERM labor certification, which typically adds one to two years before USCIS adjudication even begins.
