About Etched
Etched is building AI chips that are hard coded for individual model architectures. Our first product, Sohu, only supports transformers, but delivers an order of magnitude more throughput and lower latency than a B200. With Etched ASICs, teams can build products that are impossible on GPUs, including real time video generation and extremely deep, parallel chain of thought reasoning systems. Etched is an infrastructure driven company. Capital allocation, financing structure, and execution discipline directly shape our ability to scale, compute, deploy capacity, and move faster than incumbents.
Job Summary
We are hiring a Contracts & Commercial Operations Manager to own Etched’s commercial contracting infrastructure. In this role, you will review, draft, negotiate, and manage agreements with customers, vendors, and strategic partners while building the systems and processes that allow the company to execute contracts quickly as we scale. You will manage the contract lifecycle end-to-end and partner closely with Sales, Engineering, Finance, and leadership on major commercial transactions.
This is a hands-on role focused on both deal execution and operational ownership of contracting systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements including NDAs, MSAs, SaaS/software agreements, vendor agreements, services agreements, and technology licensing agreements.
- Manage the contract lifecycle from intake through execution, storage, and reporting.
- Build and maintain contract templates, clause libraries, and negotiation playbooks.
- Operate and improve the company’s contract lifecycle management system (CLM).
- Support customer, vendor, and strategic partnership agreements.
- Be the internal point of contact for contract support to assist in resolving issues and drive contracts to completion.
- Coordinate with Sales, Engineering, Finance, and leadership to structure and execute commercial deals.
- Track contract status, maintain contract records, and produce reporting on agreements.
You May Be a Good Fit If You Have
- 5+ years experience in contract management, legal operations, or commercial transactions.
- Bachelor’s degree is required and paralegal certification/J.D. is preferred.
- Experience drafting and negotiating NDAs, MSAs, SaaS/software agreements, vendor agreements, and licensing agreements.
- Experience in startups or other dynamic environments.
- Experience using contract lifecycle management systems such as DocuSign CLM, Ironclad, or Agiloft.
- Strong understanding of commercial contract terms including indemnification, liability caps, IP ownership, confidentiality, and termination.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate legal issues across different teams.
- Experience maintaining contract repositories and managing approval workflows.
- Proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets for contract tracking and reporting.
Benefits
- Medical, dental, and vision packages with generous premium coverage
- $500 per month credit for waiving medical benefits
- Housing subsidy of $2k per month for those living within walking distance of the office
- Relocation support for those moving to San Jose (Santana Row)
- Various wellness benefits covering fitness, mental health, and more
- Daily lunch and dinner in our office
How we’re different
Etched believes in the Bitter Lesson. We think most of the progress in the AI field has come from using more FLOPs to train and run models, and the best way to get more FLOPs is to build model-specific hardware. Larger and larger training runs encourage companies to consolidate around fewer model architectures, which creates a market for single-model ASICs.
We are a fully in-person team in San Jose and Taipei, and greatly value engineering skills. We do not have boundaries between engineering and research, and we expect all of our technical staff to contribute to both as needed.

How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Etched Visa Sponsorship USA
Target roles that match H-1B specialty occupation requirements
Etched sponsors H-1B visas, which require a direct connection between your degree and your job. Focus on roles in chip architecture, hardware engineering, or systems software where your academic background clearly aligns with the position.
Understand the H-1B lottery before you apply
Etched hires for highly specialized roles, but H-1B selection is still subject to the annual lottery. Time your application cycle accordingly and ask recruiters early whether they support premium processing or cap-exempt filing pathways.
Lead with technical depth in your application materials
Etched builds ASIC-based AI accelerators, so hiring decisions favor candidates with deep hardware or systems expertise. Highlight relevant project work, research, or prior chip design experience prominently in your resume and cover letter.
Ask about sponsorship eligibility before the final interview round
As a startup in Electronics & Hardware, Etched's sponsorship capacity may vary by role and headcount. Raise visa sponsorship early in conversations to confirm the specific position is eligible before investing time in later interview stages.
Use a platform that filters by verified sponsorship history
Not every job listing specifies visa sponsorship. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and find Etched openings confirmed to support international candidates, saving time on unverified listings.
Position yourself for the long-term H-1B to Green Card path
Etched has not yet established a significant Green Card sponsorship track record. If permanent residency is a priority, discuss long-term immigration intentions with the team early so both sides can plan around your career timeline.

Get Access To All JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Etched sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Etched sponsors H-1B visas. The company operates in the Electronics & Hardware industry and hires for highly specialized engineering roles in chip design and AI infrastructure, which align well with the H-1B specialty occupation standard. Sponsorship activity has been focused on technical positions requiring advanced domain expertise.
What types of roles at Etched are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at Etched is concentrated in deeply technical roles, particularly in hardware engineering, chip architecture, systems software, and AI infrastructure. These positions typically require a directly related degree, which satisfies the H-1B specialty occupation requirement. Generalist or operational roles are less likely to be sponsored based on the company's current hiring profile.
How do I know if Etched's sponsorship volume is strong enough to make it worth applying?
Etched is a focused semiconductor startup rather than a large enterprise sponsor, so its overall sponsorship volume reflects its size. That said, the roles it does sponsor tend to be highly specialized and competitive. If you're targeting a niche hardware or AI systems role, Etched is worth pursuing. Use Migrate Mate to browse current openings and filter by verified sponsorship history to confirm which roles are active.
What is the typical H-1B application timeline I should expect if Etched offers me a role?
For cap-subject H-1B sponsorship, Etched would need to register you in the annual USCIS lottery, which opens in March for an October 1 start date. If selected, the petition is filed between April and June. Ask your recruiter whether they offer premium processing, which can reduce USCIS adjudication to around 15 business days, and clarify what happens to your start date if processing extends beyond October.
How do I find current job openings at Etched that include visa sponsorship?
Start by checking Etched's careers page directly for open roles. For a broader search that confirms sponsorship eligibility, Migrate Mate lets you filter by verified H-1B sponsors in the Electronics & Hardware sector, so you can identify Etched listings alongside comparable companies competing for similar technical talent. This reduces the risk of applying to roles that won't support your visa.
