Match your credentials to U.S. licensing standards
Construction roles often require state-issued licenses or certifications like the PMP or PE. Audit your qualifications against U.S. equivalency standards before applying, since Evans will factor licensure into both the hire decision and the visa petition.
Target roles with degree-specific job requirements
H-1B eligibility for Construction hinges on specialty occupation status. Focus on roles like structural engineer, project manager, or estimator where a specific bachelor's degree is required, not just preferred, to strengthen the petition.
Find Evans General Contractors openings through Migrate Mate
Searching broadly misses roles where Evans is actively sponsoring. Use Migrate Mate to filter Construction jobs at Evans by visa type so you surface only the positions aligned with your immigration situation.
Understand how TN status fits construction work
If you're a Canadian or Mexican citizen, TN visas cover engineers and certain technical roles at the border without a petition wait. Confirm your specific job title maps to a USMCA-approved TN category before negotiating your offer.
Clarify the LCA timeline before accepting an offer
Your employer must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting the H-1B petition. Ask Evans directly when they plan to initiate this step so you can align your start date with the actual processing window.
Leverage OPT or CPT to build site experience first
Construction employers including Evans frequently convert F-1 OPT and CPT workers to sponsored status after proving on-site performance. Using your OPT period to gain hands-on project experience at Evans significantly strengthens a future H-1B petition.

Does Evans General Contractors sponsor H-1B visas for Construction roles?
Yes, Evans General Contractors has sponsored H-1B visas for Construction positions. Sponsorship is most consistent for roles that meet USCIS specialty occupation standards, meaning the position must require a specific bachelor's degree or higher. Engineering, project management, and estimating roles are the most common fit. Your chances improve when the job description clearly ties the degree requirement to the role's core duties.
How do I apply for Construction jobs at Evans General Contractors?
You can browse and apply for Construction roles at Evans General Contractors through Migrate Mate, which filters open positions by visa sponsorship type. When applying, tailor your resume to reflect U.S. construction standards, include relevant certifications, and be upfront about your visa situation in your cover materials so the hiring team can plan accordingly from the start.
Which visa types are commonly used for Construction roles at Evans General Contractors?
Evans General Contractors has worked with H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and J-1 visa holders for Construction positions. H-1B is the standard route for full-time sponsored employment. OPT and CPT are common entry points for recent graduates. TN applies to Canadian and Mexican engineers in eligible USMCA job categories. J-1 is less common but occasionally used for training-based roles.
What qualifications does Evans General Contractors expect for Construction positions?
For most Construction roles, Evans looks for a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a closely related field. Project management experience, familiarity with U.S. building codes, and proficiency with construction software like Procore or Primavera P6 are frequently relevant. For specialty occupation H-1B eligibility, the degree must align directly with the role's responsibilities, not just general construction knowledge.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Construction role at Evans?
The timeline depends on visa type. For H-1B, the employer must first file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL, which typically takes one to two weeks, followed by the USCIS petition. Regular processing runs three to five months. TN status can be obtained at the border in a single day for eligible Canadian or Mexican nationals. OPT authorization from USCIS currently takes up to three to five months, so apply early.
