Focus on faculty and academic roles
Fayetteville State University's sponsorship activity is concentrated in academic hiring. Target faculty, lecturer, and research positions where a specialized degree directly supports sponsorship eligibility under the H-1B specialty occupation standard.
Align your credentials with the role's field
As an HBCU with diverse academic departments, FSU requires your degree to match the specific discipline you're applying to teach or research. A direct field-to-role match strengthens your H-1B petition significantly.
Apply early in the academic hiring cycle
University hiring follows an academic calendar. Faculty searches typically open in fall for positions starting the following academic year. Applying early gives the university enough lead time to file an H-1B petition before the April cap deadline.
Confirm sponsorship willingness before applying
Not every open position at FSU will include sponsorship. Contact the department or HR office directly to confirm a role is open to international candidates. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history before investing time in an application.

Does Fayetteville State University sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Fayetteville State University sponsors H-1B visas. The university's sponsorship activity is primarily focused on academic and research roles where candidates hold specialized degrees in the relevant field. Faculty and research positions are the most common pathways. Sponsorship is not guaranteed for every open role, so confirming with HR before applying is strongly recommended.
What visa types does Fayetteville State University sponsor?
Fayetteville State University sponsors H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and J-1 visas. The H-1B is the primary long-term work visa for international hires. J-1 is used for visiting scholars and exchange programs, while F-1 OPT and CPT support students in practical training roles. TN is available for eligible Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional roles.
Which departments or roles at Fayetteville State University are most likely to offer visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at Fayetteville State University is most common in faculty, lecturer, and research positions across academic departments. STEM fields, social sciences, and business disciplines tend to generate the most international hiring activity at universities of this type. Postdoctoral and visiting scholar roles are also strong candidates for J-1 or H-1B sponsorship. Administrative and non-academic roles are less commonly sponsored.
What is the typical application and sponsorship timeline at Fayetteville State University?
Faculty hiring at FSU typically follows the academic calendar, with searches opening in the fall for positions beginning the following academic year. If an H-1B is required, the university must file the petition by April 1 for an October 1 start date. That means offer letters often need to be finalized by late winter. Building in extra lead time is important, especially if consular processing is required.
How do I find open visa-sponsored jobs at Fayetteville State University?
The most reliable approach is to search for Fayetteville State University directly on Migrate Mate, which aggregates roles from verified visa-sponsoring employers and lets you filter by sponsorship history and visa type.
