Frame your credentials for consulting contexts
Garver operates in engineering consulting, so your resume should emphasize project delivery, client-facing leadership, and cross-functional team management. Recruiters here respond to experience managing software teams embedded within large infrastructure or government-adjacent projects, not just product org backgrounds.
Research which visa categories Garver uses
Garver sponsors multiple visa types for engineering roles, including H-1B, TN, and F-1 OPT. Knowing which category fits your nationality and status before your first recruiter call puts you in a stronger position to ask informed questions without stalling the conversation.
Target Garver's office locations strategically
Garver operates across dozens of U.S. offices, and Software Engineering Manager openings are not evenly distributed. Identify locations where Garver has active consulting contracts in your technical domain. Applying to a region with a live project need accelerates the hiring timeline significantly.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open roles
Garver posts Software Engineering Manager openings across multiple channels, but not all are tagged for visa sponsorship. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Garver roles that confirm sponsorship eligibility, so you're not wasting applications on postings that exclude international candidates.
Clarify OPT cap-gap timing before your offer call
If you're on F-1 OPT and approaching your cap-gap window, flag this proactively with Garver's HR team. The cap-gap rule allows you to work through September 30 if your H-1B petition is filed before OPT expires, but both you and the employer need to align on the USCIS filing deadline early.
Prepare for PERM documentation if pursuing permanent residence
Garver sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for eligible employees, but PERM labor certification requires detailed documentation of the job requirements and recruiting process. If long-term sponsorship matters to you, raise it during offer negotiation and confirm the company has an immigration counsel who handles PERM filings regularly.

Find Software Engineering Manager at Garver JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Garver sponsor H-1B visas for Software Engineering Managers?
Yes, Garver sponsors H-1B visas for Software Engineering Manager roles. As an engineering consulting firm, Garver has a documented history of sponsoring work visas for technical leadership positions. If you're currently on H-1B status with another employer, Garver can file an H-1B transfer, allowing you to start work as soon as the petition is received by USCIS.
How do I apply for Software Engineering Manager jobs at Garver?
You can apply directly through Garver's careers portal or through Migrate Mate, which filters Garver's open Software Engineering Manager roles by visa sponsorship eligibility. When applying, tailor your application to highlight team leadership experience in consulting or engineering services environments. Garver's recruiting process typically includes a technical screen followed by panel interviews with engineering leadership.
Which visa types does Garver commonly use for Software Engineering Manager roles?
Garver sponsors H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, J-1, and employment-based Green Cards including EB-2 and EB-3 for this role. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories. F-1 OPT and CPT are common entry points for recent graduates before transitioning to H-1B sponsorship through the annual USCIS lottery, which opens each March.
What qualifications does Garver expect for a Software Engineering Manager role?
Garver's Software Engineering Manager roles in consulting typically require a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field, along with demonstrated experience managing engineering teams on complex projects. Exposure to infrastructure, government, or civil engineering software contexts is a differentiator. Proficiency with agile delivery and vendor coordination is commonly expected at the management level.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take if I receive an offer from Garver?
Timeline depends on your visa category. H-1B cap-subject petitions follow a fixed USCIS schedule with an October 1 start date. H-1B transfers for candidates already on H-1B status can proceed year-round, with USCIS processing taking two to six months for standard service. TN status for Canadian nationals can be obtained at the port of entry on the same day an offer letter is in hand.
