Align your credentials with Garver's service standards
Before applying, document any formal food service training, certifications, or hospitality credentials in a format U.S. employers recognize. Garver's consulting environment expects polished, client-ready professionals, so presenting credentials clearly signals you meet that bar.
Target Garver's office locations with active openings
Garver operates across multiple regional offices, and Waiter openings are not evenly distributed. Filter your search by location to find sites with current demand, since visa sponsorship is far more likely when a role already has budget and headcount approved.
Clarify which visa pathway applies to your situation
Garver sponsors several visa categories including H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT. Which one applies depends on your nationality, current status, and degree field. Confirm your eligibility before your first interview so you can speak to it directly if asked.
Use Migrate Mate to surface Garver's sponsored Waiter roles
Roles that include visa sponsorship are rarely labeled that way on general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Waiter positions at Garver where sponsorship is confirmed, so you're not wasting applications on postings that won't support your authorization.
Ask about LCA filing timing during the offer stage
For H-1B sponsorship, your employer files a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before petitioning USCIS. Ask Garver's HR team early whether they have an immigration counsel on retainer and what their typical timeline looks like from offer to filing.
Protect your status during OPT by tracking your gap days
If you're on F-1 OPT, USCIS allows a maximum 90-day unemployment gap before your status is at risk. If Garver's onboarding or background check process runs long, document your start date carefully and follow up proactively to avoid an unintended gap.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Garver sponsor H-1B visas for Waiters?
Yes, Garver sponsors H-1B visas and has done so across multiple roles including positions in its service and operations functions. If you're targeting a Waiter role specifically, raise sponsorship eligibility early in the process. H-1B petitions are subject to the annual cap and lottery, so timing your application around Garver's hiring cycle matters.
How do I apply for Waiter jobs at Garver?
You can search for open Waiter positions directly on Garver's careers page or use Migrate Mate to filter for roles where visa sponsorship is confirmed. When applying, tailor your resume to highlight client-facing service experience and any formal hospitality training. Mention your visa status clearly in your application or cover letter so Garver's recruiting team can route your file correctly from the start.
Which visa types does Garver commonly use for Waiter roles?
Garver supports a range of visa categories for Waiter positions, including H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN visa, J-1 visa, and employment-based Green Card pathways like EB-2 and EB-3. The right category depends on your nationality, current immigration status, and education level. TN visa is available only to Canadian and Mexican nationals under USMCA, while F-1 OPT and CPT are limited to students enrolled in or recently graduated from U.S. institutions.
What qualifications does Garver expect for Waiter positions?
Garver's consulting environment means even service roles carry a professional standard. Expect the hiring team to look for prior food and beverage experience in structured settings, strong communication skills, and comfort working with a client-facing team. Formal certifications in food safety or hospitality, while not always required, strengthen your profile and signal seriousness about the role.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take at Garver?
Timeline varies by visa type. F-1 OPT authorization can be in place within weeks if your EAD is already issued. H-1B sponsorship takes longer: your employer must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL, then submit an I-129 petition to USCIS. Standard processing runs several months, though premium processing can reduce USCIS adjudication to roughly 15 business days. Align your job search timeline with these realities before accepting an offer.
