Tailor your credentials to GHD's project portfolio
GHD's Electrical Engineer roles span power systems, water infrastructure, and built environment projects. Align your resume to the specific sector you're targeting, since hiring decisions are made at the practice level, not company-wide.
Verify your degree meets specialty occupation standards
USCIS requires that Electrical Engineer roles qualify as specialty occupations, meaning a specific bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a directly related field is typically required. A general engineering degree without relevant coursework can complicate the petition.
Target GHD offices near major infrastructure programs
GHD concentrates Electrical Engineer hiring around active project pipelines in energy transition and water. Applying to offices in regions with large infrastructure programs increases your odds of reaching a team with immediate headcount and sponsorship budget.
Raise sponsorship early in the offer conversation
Consulting firms like GHD often begin internal approvals before extending a formal offer. Bring up your visa status during the final interview stage so the hiring manager can initiate the sponsorship authorization process without delaying your start date.
Understand how TN status fits GHD's engineering roles
If you're a Canadian or Mexican citizen, TN status covers engineers and can be activated at the border without USCIS adjudication, meaning you could start within days of an offer. GHD has sponsored TN visas for engineering roles, making this a faster path than H-1B for eligible candidates.
Use Migrate Mate to find open GHD roles that match your visa type
Not every GHD Electrical Engineer posting comes with the same sponsorship scope. Use Migrate Mate to filter open roles by the visa categories GHD has sponsored, so you're only applying to positions where your status is already a fit.

Find Electrical Engineer at GHD JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does GHD sponsor H-1B visas for Electrical Engineers?
GHD does sponsor work visas for Electrical Engineers, though H-1B sponsorship depends on the specific role, office location, and project need at the time of hiring. Because H-1B cap-subject petitions are subject to an annual lottery, GHD's engineering teams typically plan hiring timelines around the April filing window. Candidates already holding H-1B status through a prior employer may transfer more quickly.
How do I apply for Electrical Engineer jobs at GHD?
Applications go through GHD's careers portal, where roles are listed by region and practice area. Before applying, confirm the position is open to sponsored candidates by reviewing the job description carefully. Migrate Mate filters GHD's open Electrical Engineer roles by visa type, which saves time if you need sponsorship and want to avoid postings that are only open to candidates with existing work authorization.
Which visa types does GHD commonly sponsor for Electrical Engineer roles?
GHD has sponsored Electrical Engineers across several visa categories, including F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, J-1 for exchange-based arrangements, and employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3. The right category depends on your nationality, degree level, and where you are in your career. TN is often the most straightforward option for eligible North American candidates.
What qualifications does GHD expect for Electrical Engineer positions?
Most Electrical Engineer roles at GHD require a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related discipline, along with relevant experience in infrastructure, energy, or water sectors. Licensure, such as a Professional Engineer credential, is valued for senior roles and may be required for client-facing project work. GHD also looks for candidates with experience using industry-standard modeling and design tools specific to the engineering discipline.
How long does the sponsorship and onboarding process typically take at GHD?
Timelines vary by visa type. TN sponsorship for Canadian nationals can be completed at a port of entry on the day of travel. H-1B transfers for candidates already in status typically take two to three months with USCIS. Green Card sponsorship through PERM labor certification is a multi-year process that GHD initiates after a period of employment, and the DOL audit queue can extend timelines further depending on the year.
