Role Overview:
Aeva is seeking to hire a talented and motivated NPI Alignment Engineer to work closely with our design teams and contract manufacturers in developing precision optoelectronic alignment equipment. This person should have in-depth experience in micro-optic assembly techniques and equipment with a heavy emphasis on active alignment.
What you will be doing
- Development from concept to production release of in-house and outsourced active alignment equipment
- Work remotely and on-site with active alignment equipment manufacturers to solve equipment hardware and process related issues
- Oversee failure analysis of process and assembly related issues
- Source and buy-off active alignment required for production
- Provide DFM feedback to the engineering team and own process related design decisions as related to active alignment
What will you have
- 3-5 years experience developing custom designed optoelectronic active alignment equipment and alignment processes
- Hands-on experience developing and debugging active aligner hardware and processes
- Hands-on experience creating and modifying alignment sequences in custom equipment GUIs
- Experience optimizing processes for cycle time, yield, and performance
- A strong understanding and comfort of geometric optics and mechanical alignment hardware
- Experience specifying and developing original alignment techniques and algorithms
- Experience with automation hardware using precision stages, automated dispensing, and pneumatics
- Strong knowledge of epoxies used for active alignment
- Years of accumulated knowledge of working with equipment suppliers and contract manufacturers
- Excellent project management and communication skills
- Willingness for extended international travel
Nice to have
- Experience with working in an R&D environment while also meeting deadlines in a production schedule
- Experience writing scripts in languages like Python, Matlab, Labview, or C++
- Experience analyzing large alignment datasets using software such as Python, R, JMP, or similar
- Strong Solidworks experience
- Experience designing precision mechanical parts and assemblies
What’s in it for you
- Be part of a fast paced and dynamic team
- Very competitive compensation and meaningful stock grants
- Exceptional benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, and more

Job Roles at Aeva
How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Aeva Green Card Visa Sponsorship Jobs USA
Target core engineering roles
Aeva's Green Card sponsorship activity is concentrated in technical functions, think hardware engineering, software development, and signal processing. Prioritize roles that align with the company's lidar and sensing technology stack for the strongest sponsorship potential.
Ask about PERM labor certification early
Green Card sponsorship at technology companies like Aeva typically begins with PERM labor certification, which employers must initiate. Raise the topic during offer negotiation, not after onboarding, so both sides understand the timeline commitment involved.
Use Migrate Mate to verify Aeva's sponsorship history
Before applying, confirm Aeva's current Green Card sponsorship activity. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, giving you confidence that the company has a demonstrated record rather than just a stated policy.
Understand the EB-2 versus EB-3 distinction for tech roles
At technology and software companies like Aeva, roles requiring advanced degrees often qualify for EB-2 filings, while positions requiring a bachelor's degree typically fall under EB-3. Knowing which category applies to your role helps set realistic priority date expectations.
Demonstrate long-term alignment with the company's mission
Green Card sponsorship is a multi-year commitment for any employer. In interviews and applications, emphasize your interest in Aeva's autonomous sensing technology roadmap and your intent to grow within the company, sponsors prioritize candidates they expect to retain.

Does Aeva sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Aeva sponsors Green Card visas for qualifying employees. The company has filed Green Card petitions for workers in technical and engineering roles, primarily through the EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based categories. Sponsorship is typically available to employees already working at Aeva on a nonimmigrant visa such as H-1B or F-1 OPT, rather than as a first-day hiring commitment.
Which roles at Aeva are most likely to receive Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at Aeva is concentrated in technical roles tied to its core products, including hardware engineering, software engineering, systems engineering, and lidar or sensor research positions. Roles requiring specialized expertise in photonics, FMCW technology, or autonomous systems tend to be the strongest candidates for employer-sponsored permanent residency given the depth of specialized knowledge involved.
How do I start the Green Card process at Aeva?
The process typically begins after you're established in a role on a nonimmigrant visa. Aeva would initiate PERM labor certification with the Department of Labor, followed by an I-140 immigrant petition filed with USCIS under either EB-2 or EB-3. Your job is to raise the topic with your manager or HR team proactively, ideally during offer negotiations or performance reviews, rather than waiting for the company to bring it up.
How long does the Green Card process take at a company like Aeva?
The timeline depends heavily on your country of birth and the visa category. For most nationals, the PERM and I-140 stages together take roughly one to two years. However, applicants born in India or China face significantly longer waits due to per-country annual limits, often extending a decade or more. Filing early in your employment at Aeva and locking in a priority date is the single most impactful thing you can do.
How do I find open Green Card jobs at Aeva?
Aeva posts openings on its careers page, but job listings rarely specify Green Card sponsorship availability upfront. Migrate Mate aggregates verified employer sponsorship data alongside job listings, so you can identify active Aeva openings while cross-referencing the company's real Green Card filing history. This saves time compared to applying broadly and asking about sponsorship only at the offer stage.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Aeva?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
