Does Creighton University sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Creighton University does sponsor Green Card visas for qualifying employees. Sponsorship is not offered for every role and tends to be concentrated in faculty, research, and specialized professional staff positions. Candidates should confirm sponsorship availability directly with the hiring department during the interview process, as it varies by role and budget.
Which roles and departments at Creighton University typically receive Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at Creighton University is most common in tenure-track and research faculty positions, particularly within its health sciences, nursing, and professional schools. Specialized administrative and technical roles supporting academic operations can also qualify. Positions requiring advanced degrees or unique expertise are more likely to receive sponsorship than general staff roles.
How do I navigate the Green Card application process at Creighton University?
Creighton typically works with outside immigration counsel to manage the PERM labor certification process, followed by an I-140 immigrant petition filing. As an employee, you will need to provide documentation of your qualifications and work history. Staying in close communication with Creighton's HR team and the assigned immigration attorney keeps the process moving efficiently.
How long does the Green Card process take at Creighton University?
The timeline depends on your visa category, country of birth, and how quickly each stage is completed. PERM labor certification alone can take six months to over a year before the I-140 is even filed. Nationals from countries with high immigration demand face significantly longer waits after I-140 approval. Starting the conversation with Creighton HR early in your employment helps you plan accordingly.
How do I find and apply for Green Card-sponsored jobs at Creighton University?
Search Creighton University's careers portal for open positions and look for language referencing visa or work authorization support. Migrate Mate can help you identify Creighton roles where Green Card sponsorship has been verified, saving time spent on postings with no sponsorship history. During applications, tailor your materials to highlight expertise aligned with Creighton's academic and research priorities.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Creighton University?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
