Does DigitalOcean sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, DigitalOcean sponsors Green Card visas for qualifying employees. Sponsorship is concentrated in technical roles across software engineering, cloud infrastructure, and related disciplines. The company files through the EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based categories, which require a PERM labor certification before the underlying I-140 immigrant petition can be filed.
Which roles and departments at DigitalOcean are most likely to receive Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at DigitalOcean is most common in engineering and infrastructure teams, where specialized technical skills justify the permanent residency process. Software engineers, platform engineers, and cloud infrastructure specialists represent the core of the company's sponsored workforce. Product and data roles may also qualify depending on the position's requirements.
How does the Green Card application process work at DigitalOcean?
DigitalOcean typically sponsors Green Cards through the EB-2 or EB-3 employment-based categories. The process begins with a PERM labor certification filed with the Department of Labor, followed by an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS. Once approved and a visa number is available, employees file for adjustment of status or go through consular processing. The company's immigration counsel manages the employer-side filings.
How long does the Green Card process take at DigitalOcean?
The total timeline depends on your nationality, the visa category, and current USCIS and Department of Labor processing times. PERM certification alone can take one to two years. For applicants from oversubscribed countries like India, priority date backlogs in the EB-2 and EB-3 categories can extend the overall wait significantly beyond the initial filing stage.
How do I find Green Card jobs at DigitalOcean that include sponsorship?
Start by searching DigitalOcean's careers page and filtering for technical roles in engineering and infrastructure. To confirm sponsorship intent before applying, use Migrate Mate, which tracks verified Green Card sponsors and lets you search specifically for DigitalOcean openings where permanent residency support is documented. This saves time compared to reaching out to recruiters at every stage.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at DigitalOcean?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
