Target engineering and product roles
Guidewire's core business is insurance software, so Green Card sponsorship historically concentrates in software engineering, product management, and cloud infrastructure roles. Prioritizing these functions gives you the strongest overlap with their sponsorship history.
Confirm sponsorship intent before accepting an offer
Not every open role at a Technology and Software company automatically comes with Green Card support. During the offer stage, ask your recruiter directly whether the position is eligible for permanent residency sponsorship and what the typical timeline looks like.
Understand the PERM labor certification process
Green Card sponsorship at most technology employers, including Guidewire, begins with PERM. Knowing what PERM involves, prevailing wage determinations, recruitment requirements, DOL filing, helps you ask informed questions and set realistic expectations with HR.
Use Migrate Mate to verify sponsorship history
Before applying, check Guidewire's verified sponsorship record on Migrate Mate. Migrate Mate surfaces confirmed Green Card sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history rather than relying on employer claims made during recruitment.
Build tenure before initiating the process
Guidewire, like most Technology and Software employers, typically begins Green Card sponsorship after an employee has demonstrated performance in a permanent role. Joining on H-1B visa or OPT and performing well positions you to request sponsorship once you've established yourself.
Engage immigration counsel early in negotiations
Large technology employers like Guidewire work with outside immigration law firms. Understanding the employer's preferred counsel and the internal HR process for initiating a Green Card case helps you avoid delays once the process begins.
Guidewire Software Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Guidewire Software sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Guidewire Software sponsors Green Card visas for qualifying full-time employees. The company has an active record of supporting permanent residency cases, particularly for roles in software engineering and technical functions central to its insurance platform business. Sponsorship is typically initiated after an employee is established in a permanent position.
Which roles and departments at Guidewire Software typically receive Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at Guidewire Software is most common in software engineering, cloud and platform engineering, product management, and professional services. These are the functions most closely tied to Guidewire's core insurance technology products. Corporate and administrative roles are less frequently sponsored, though eligibility ultimately depends on the specific position and business need.
How does the Green Card application process work at Guidewire Software?
Guidewire typically sponsors Green Cards through the EB-2 or EB-3 employment-based categories. The process begins with PERM labor certification filed with the Department of Labor, followed by an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS. Once an immigrant visa number is available, employees can file for adjustment of status if they are already in the United States.
How long does the Green Card process take at Guidewire Software?
Timeline depends heavily on your country of birth. For employees born outside of high-demand countries, the process from PERM filing to Green Card approval can take two to four years. Employees born in India or China face significantly longer waits due to per-country annual limits, often stretching well beyond a decade depending on the visa category.
How do I find Green Card jobs at Guidewire Software?
Start by reviewing current openings on Guidewire's careers page and look for roles aligned with your technical background in insurance software. Migrate Mate is a useful tool here, it surfaces verified Green Card sponsors and lets you filter specifically for companies with confirmed sponsorship histories, so you can apply with confidence rather than guessing at each employer's actual practices.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Guidewire Software?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
