Align your credentials to EB-2 requirements
HDR's technical roles in engineering and environmental consulting often qualify for EB-2, which requires an advanced degree or exceptional ability. Gather transcripts, licensure records, and peer recognition letters before you apply, so your profile is ready when HDR's immigration team evaluates your pathway.
Understand where PERM labor certification applies
Most HDR Green Card filings go through the PERM process, where DOL certifies no qualified U.S. workers were displaced. Your employer drives this stage, but knowing the recruitment audit requirements helps you anticipate delays and ask the right questions during offer negotiations.
Target roles in HDR's infrastructure and water practices
HDR's heaviest Green Card sponsorship activity clusters in engineering disciplines tied to infrastructure, water resources, and environmental services. Targeting openings in these practice areas gives you a stronger chance of landing in a team with an established sponsorship track record and dedicated immigration support.
Clarify Green Card intent during the offer stage
Raise Green Card sponsorship explicitly before signing an offer, not after onboarding. Ask HDR's recruiter whether the role is eligible for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship and what the firm's standard timeline looks like from conditional offer to PERM filing initiation.
Use Migrate Mate to verify HDR's LCA filing history
Before your interview, pull HDR's Labor Condition Application filings by job title and location on Migrate Mate. This shows which roles the firm has sponsored in practice, what prevailing wage levels apply to your target position, and whether your city has active filings in your discipline.
Check your occupation's wage tier before negotiating
DOL assigns prevailing wages by occupation and location through the OFLC Wage Search. For HDR roles, cross-reference your O*NET occupation code against the applicable wage level before negotiating salary, since your offer must meet the certified prevailing wage for PERM to proceed without delays.
HDR Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does HDR sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, HDR sponsors Green Card visas for qualifying employees, primarily in engineering, environmental consulting, and technical services roles. The firm files through EB-2 and EB-3 pathways depending on the role and applicant's credentials. Sponsorship is typically tied to long-term employment in a specific practice area, not offered universally across all positions.
Which roles at HDR typically receive Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at HDR is most common in licensed engineering disciplines, environmental science, and infrastructure consulting. Roles requiring a professional engineering license or advanced technical degree in fields like civil, structural, or water resources engineering tend to be the strongest candidates. Project management and planning roles within these practice areas also see sponsorship in some cases.
How do I start the Green Card process at HDR?
The process begins after you're hired and have worked at HDR long enough for the firm to initiate PERM. HDR's immigration counsel handles the DOL labor certification filing, after which USCIS adjudicates the immigrant petition. You can use Migrate Mate to research HDR's filing history by role before you apply, so you enter negotiations knowing which positions have a sponsorship track record.
How long does the Green Card process take at HDR?
Timeline depends on your visa category, country of birth, and whether your priority date is current. The PERM stage alone takes several months under DOL's standard processing, followed by USCIS adjudication of the I-140 petition. If you're born in a backlogged country, the wait for an available immigrant visa number can extend the overall timeline significantly beyond the filing period.
How do I know if my HDR job offer includes Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card eligibility is not automatic with an HDR offer and should be confirmed directly during the offer stage. Ask the recruiter whether the specific role is eligible for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship and whether the firm initiates PERM after a defined tenure period. Getting this in writing or confirmed by HDR's immigration point of contact protects your expectations before you accept.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at HDR?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
