Verify your credential equivalency before applying
Mercy's clinical roles require U.S.-recognized licensure or credential evaluation before PERM labor certification can proceed. Get your foreign nursing or therapy credentials evaluated by a USCIS-recognized credential evaluation service so your application doesn't stall at the documentation stage.
Distinguish EB-2 from EB-3 for your role
Most of Mercy's clinical sponsorships flow through EB-3 for registered nurses and allied health staff, while EB-2 applies to roles requiring an advanced degree or exceptional ability. Knowing which category fits your position tells you whether PERM labor certification is required and how long your wait is likely to be.
Use Migrate Mate to confirm Mercy's sponsorship history
Before investing time in an application, confirm that Mercy has an active pattern of sponsoring your specific role type. Migrate Mate surfaces DOL Labor Condition Application filing history by employer and occupation, so you can see whether your job title has a real precedent at Mercy.
Request sponsorship commitment in writing at offer stage
Mercy's HR teams handle sponsorship through formal processes, not informal promises. When you receive a job offer, ask explicitly whether Green Card sponsorship is included in the offer terms and request written confirmation before you accept, so there's no ambiguity when PERM filing begins.
Benchmark your salary against OFLC Wage Search early
PERM requires Mercy to pay the prevailing wage for your role in your metro area. Look up your occupation's wage level on the OFLC Wage Search before negotiating salary, because a below-prevailing-wage offer will need to be corrected before DOL certifies the labor certification application.
Target departments with recurring sponsorship patterns
Mercy's Green Card sponsorships concentrate in acute care nursing, physical and occupational therapy, and diagnostic imaging. Applying directly to those departments, rather than general openings, puts you in front of hiring managers who already have internal processes for supporting international employees through the Green Card pipeline.
Mercy Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Mercy sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Mercy sponsors Green Card visas for eligible employees in healthcare roles. Sponsorship is most commonly offered to nurses, therapists, and specialized clinical staff who have demonstrated performance and fit within the organization. Green Card sponsorship is typically initiated after a period of employment on a temporary work visa such as H-1B visa.
Which roles at Mercy are most likely to receive Green Card sponsorship?
Registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and diagnostic imaging technologists are among the roles Mercy has historically sponsored for Green Card. Clinical positions requiring specialized licensure or advanced training tend to receive sponsorship priority, as these are the hardest roles for Mercy to fill through the domestic labor market alone.
How does the Green Card application process work at Mercy?
Mercy typically initiates the process through PERM labor certification filed with DOL, which requires the employer to demonstrate that no qualified U.S. worker is available for the role. Once PERM is certified, Mercy files an immigrant petition with USCIS. The employee then waits for a visa number to become available based on their priority date and country of birth.
How long does Green Card sponsorship take at Mercy?
Timeline depends heavily on your country of birth and the EB category your role falls under. Employees born in countries without visa backlogs may see the process complete in two to four years from PERM filing. Employees born in high-demand countries such as India or China face significantly longer waits due to annual visa caps set by USCIS.
How do I find Green Card jobs at Mercy that include sponsorship?
Search Mercy's careers page and filter for roles in clinical departments with known sponsorship patterns such as nursing and therapy. Migrate Mate can help you identify which specific Mercy job titles have a history of Green Card sponsorship through DOL filing data, so you can prioritize roles with the strongest precedent before submitting your application.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Mercy?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
