Target faculty and research roles first
Metropolitan State University of Denver's Green Card sponsorship concentrates in academic and research positions. Faculty appointments, research coordinators, and specialized instructional roles are where permanent residence petitions are most commonly initiated, so prioritize those job categories in your search.
Understand the EB-2 and EB-3 pathways used in higher education
Universities like MSU Denver typically pursue Green Cards through EB-2 or EB-3 employment-based categories. Knowing which category applies to your role helps you ask informed questions during interviews and demonstrates serious intent to your hiring department.
Engage Human Resources early about sponsorship policy
MSU Denver's HR and international faculty office handle Green Card filings directly. Raising sponsorship expectations during the offer negotiation stage, rather than after accepting, gives you the clearest picture of whether your specific role qualifies for permanent residence support.
Build a track record on a temporary visa first
Many MSU Denver employees begin on H-1B visa or TN visa status before the university initiates a Green Card petition. Demonstrating strong performance in your role strengthens the institutional case for sponsoring your permanent residence application through PERM labor certification.
Use Migrate Mate to identify verified Green Card-sponsoring roles
Finding employers with a real Green Card sponsorship history matters more than general job listings. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by actual sponsorship history, helping you target MSU Denver openings most likely to support permanent residence.
Ask specifically about PERM labor certification timelines
Green Card sponsorship at universities involves PERM recruitment requirements coordinated with the Department of Labor. Ask MSU Denver HR how long their typical PERM process takes so you can plan your immigration timeline accurately and avoid surprises after starting the role.
