Align your credentials to PERM requirements early
PERM requires your degree, licensure, and clinical experience to match the job description exactly as advertised. Before you apply, verify your credentials meet the minimum requirements DOL will scrutinize, not just Nemours's internal hiring preferences. Gaps discovered mid-filing can restart the clock entirely.
Target roles where EB-2 or EB-3 fits naturally
Nemours sponsors both EB-2 and EB-3, but most clinical roles fall under EB-3 due to standard degree requirements. If you hold an advanced degree and your role involves specialized research or advanced practice, ask your recruiter specifically whether EB-2 National Interest Waiver eligibility has been evaluated.
Request Green Card intent conversations before accepting offers
Nemours's immigration support varies by department and role. During the offer stage, ask HR directly whether the position is designated for Green Card sponsorship and what the typical timeline looks like. Waiting until after you're hired to raise this question creates unnecessary risk and misaligned expectations.
Use Migrate Mate to search verified Green Card sponsorship history
Before investing time in Nemours's application process, use Migrate Mate to review the company's Green Card filing history by role and location. Seeing which job titles and departments have received sponsorship helps you target your application toward positions with a real precedent for approval.
Benchmark your salary against OFLC Wage Search data
PERM requires Nemours to offer the DOL prevailing wage for your role and location. Run your job title through OFLC Wage Search before negotiating salary. If your offered compensation sits at or above the prevailing wage floor, it removes one of the most common PERM audit triggers before the process even begins.
Track your priority date against the Visa Bulletin monthly
Once USCIS approves your I-140, your priority date determines when you can file for adjustment of status. For EB-3 healthcare roles, country of birth creates significant variation in wait times. Check the DOS Visa Bulletin each month so you're ready to file Form I-485 the moment your date becomes current.
Nemours Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Nemours sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Nemours sponsors Green Card visas for eligible clinical and specialized healthcare roles. Sponsorship is most common in nursing, therapy, and advanced practice positions. The process typically follows the PERM labor certification route under EB-3, though EB-2 may apply for roles requiring advanced degrees or specialized expertise. Sponsorship is role-specific and not guaranteed for every open position.
Which departments at Nemours are most likely to offer Green Card sponsorship?
Clinical departments with ongoing hiring needs, including nursing, physical and occupational therapy, and specialized medical roles, are most commonly associated with Green Card sponsorship at Nemours. Roles with documented shortages of qualified U.S. workers tend to move through PERM more smoothly. Research and advanced practice positions may also qualify under EB-2 depending on the role's requirements.
How do I start the Green Card process with Nemours as my sponsor?
The process begins when Nemours's HR or immigration counsel initiates a PERM labor certification with DOL on your behalf. You'll need to confirm your credentials match the job description exactly as advertised. After PERM is certified, Nemours files Form I-140 with USCIS. You can use Migrate Mate to track which Nemours roles have successfully gone through this process before.
How long does Green Card sponsorship take at Nemours?
The full timeline depends on your visa category and country of birth. PERM labor certification alone typically takes six to twelve months, followed by I-140 adjudication at USCIS. After approval, your wait for an available visa number can range from months to years depending on your EB category and whether your priority date is current under the DOS Visa Bulletin.
What can I do to strengthen my Green Card application at Nemours?
Make sure your degree, licensure, and clinical experience match Nemours's posted job requirements precisely, since DOL audits any discrepancy during PERM. Confirm your compensation meets the DOL prevailing wage by checking OFLC Wage Search. Raise the sponsorship question during the offer stage, not after onboarding, and document all credential evaluations if your degree was issued outside the United States.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Nemours?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
