Target faculty and research roles first
Rowan University's Green Card sponsorship is most common in academic and research positions. Faculty lines, postdoctoral roles, and research staff positions in STEM and health sciences are where the university has the strongest track record of supporting permanent residency.
Understand the EB-2 and EB-3 pathways
Universities like Rowan typically file Green Cards under EB-2 for roles requiring advanced degrees or exceptional ability, and EB-3 for other professional staff. Knowing which category applies to your role helps you ask the right questions during hiring conversations.
Raise sponsorship early in the interview process
Higher education employers are generally familiar with Green Card sponsorship, but timing matters. Bring up your need for sponsorship before an offer is extended so HR can assess eligibility and involve immigration counsel without delaying your start date.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified sponsorship roles
Not every Rowan University posting leads to Green Card sponsorship. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you focus your applications on roles where permanent residency support is genuinely on the table.
Build your case through H-1B status first
Many Rowan University international employees begin on H-1B or J-1 status before transitioning to Green Card sponsorship. Establishing yourself in a role gives you time to demonstrate value and makes it easier for the university to justify initiating the PERM labor certification process.
Engage Rowan's HR and international office proactively
Rowan University has dedicated HR and international employee support resources. Connecting with these offices early helps you understand which positions are eligible for sponsorship, what documentation you'll need, and how the university coordinates with its immigration legal team.
Rowan University Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Rowan University sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Rowan University sponsors Green Card visas for eligible employees, primarily in faculty, research, and professional staff roles. Sponsorship is typically handled through the EB-2 or EB-3 employment-based categories and usually follows a period of employment on a nonimmigrant visa such as the H-1B visa or J-1 visa.
Which roles and departments at Rowan University are most likely to receive Green Card sponsorship?
Academic and research positions are the most common candidates for Green Card sponsorship at Rowan University. This includes tenure-track and tenured faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and specialized professional staff in areas like STEM, health sciences, and information technology. Administrative roles may qualify depending on degree requirements and the specific department's hiring needs.
How do I navigate the Green Card application process at Rowan University?
The process typically starts with PERM labor certification, where Rowan University must demonstrate through a supervised recruitment process that no qualified U.S. worker is available for the role. Once PERM is approved, the university files an I-140 immigrant petition on your behalf. You or your attorney then manage the final adjustment of status or consular processing step.
How long does the Green Card process take at a university like Rowan?
The timeline varies significantly depending on your country of birth and the visa category. For most applicants not subject to backlog, the PERM and I-140 stages together can take one to two years. Applicants born in India or China face substantially longer waits due to per-country visa backlogs, which can extend the total process by many years.
How do I find open Green Card sponsorship jobs at Rowan University?
Start by checking Rowan University's official careers portal for open positions, then verify sponsorship eligibility before applying. Migrate Mate is a useful tool here because it aggregates roles from verified Green Card sponsors, letting you confirm that Rowan University has an active sponsorship history before you invest time in an application.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Rowan University?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
