Target engineering and product roles first
Smartsheet's Green Card sponsorship is most active in technical disciplines. Software engineers, product managers, and data professionals in the Technology & Software space are the most likely candidates to receive Green Card support during their tenure.
Understand the PERM process before you apply
Smartsheet typically sponsors Green Cards through PERM labor certification, which requires proving no qualified U.S. workers are available. Knowing this process upfront helps you ask the right questions during recruiting and set realistic timeline expectations.
Ask about sponsorship policy during the offer stage
Not every role at Smartsheet automatically qualifies for Green Card sponsorship. Raise the conversation during the offer negotiation phase, not after you've started, so there's a clear commitment in writing before you accept.
Align your visa status with a long-term sponsorship plan
If you're currently on H-1B visa or F-1 OPT, Smartsheet's experience across multiple visa types works in your favor. Establish a clear transition plan from your nonimmigrant status to the Green Card process as early as possible with your HR contact.
Use verified sponsorship data to prioritize your job search
When searching for Green Card-sponsoring roles at companies like Smartsheet, Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and focus your applications where sponsorship is genuinely on the table.
Build relationships inside Smartsheet before the process starts
Green Card sponsorship decisions often involve both HR and direct managers. Demonstrating strong performance and internal advocacy before initiating the process increases the likelihood your case is prioritized when the company allocates immigration resources.
Smartsheet Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Smartsheet sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Smartsheet sponsors Green Card visas for eligible employees. The company has a consistent record of supporting permanent residency applications, primarily through the EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based categories. Sponsorship is most common in technical and product roles, and the process typically begins after an employee has established themselves in their position.
Which roles and departments at Smartsheet are most likely to receive Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at Smartsheet is most concentrated in software engineering, product management, and data-focused roles. Corporate functions such as finance and legal may also qualify depending on the position level and business need. Roles requiring specialized degrees or advanced technical expertise are the strongest candidates for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship.
How does the Green Card application process work at Smartsheet?
Smartsheet typically sponsors Green Cards through the PERM labor certification process, which involves the Department of Labor verifying that no qualified U.S. workers are available for the role. Once PERM is certified, Smartsheet files an I-140 immigrant petition on your behalf. After approval, you proceed to either adjustment of status or consular processing depending on your situation.
How long does it take to get a Green Card through Smartsheet?
The timeline depends heavily on your country of birth and the visa category used. PERM certification alone can take six months to over a year. For applicants born in countries with high demand such as India or China, priority date backlogs in the EB-2 and EB-3 categories can extend the total wait significantly beyond the initial filing stage.
How do I find open Green Card sponsorship jobs at Smartsheet?
The most reliable approach is searching platforms that track verified sponsorship history rather than relying on job postings alone, since most listings don't specify Green Card eligibility. Migrate Mate lets you filter opportunities at companies like Smartsheet by confirmed sponsorship activity, so you can focus on roles where Green Card support is a real part of the offer.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Smartsheet?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
