Align your degree to EB-2 requirements early
Synopsys files the majority of its Green Cards under EB-2, which requires an advanced degree or exceptional ability. If your role is in EDA engineering or chip architecture, confirm your master's or PhD directly supports the job duties before you accept an offer.
Request PERM filing timing during negotiation
Synopsys typically initiates PERM labor certification after you've demonstrated performance in role. Ask your recruiter at the offer stage how long engineers in your specific team have waited before PERM begins, so you can plan around your OPT or H-1B visa expiration.
Document specialized skills that survive PERM recruitment
The PERM process requires DOL to verify no qualified U.S. worker is available for your role. For highly specialized positions like formal verification or analog design at Synopsys, your unique skill set should be clearly documented in writing before recruitment ads run.
Understand how EB-3 affects your priority date
If your role doesn't require an advanced degree, Synopsys may file under EB-3. Your priority date is set when PERM is filed with DOL, and for applicants from India or China, wait times under EB-3 can stretch significantly longer than EB-2 due to per-country backlogs.
Use Migrate Mate to find Synopsys Green Card roles
Search Synopsys's verified LCA and Green Card filing history on Migrate Mate to see which job titles and offices have active sponsorship patterns. This helps you target the teams most likely to support a Green Card filing rather than applying broadly across all open roles.
Verify your prevailing wage tier before accepting an offer
PERM requires Synopsys to pay at least the DOL prevailing wage for your occupation and location. Use the OFLC Wage Search to check the wage level for your job title and worksite before signing an offer, since being slotted at Level I can complicate your filing.
Synopsys Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Synopsys sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Synopsys sponsors Green Card visas and is among the more active sponsors in the semiconductor and EDA software sector. Sponsorship is most common for engineering roles in chip design, verification, software development, and technical architecture. Sponsorship is typically employer-initiated after you've been in role for a period of time.
Which roles at Synopsys typically receive Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at Synopsys is most concentrated in technical engineering positions, particularly those requiring specialized knowledge in EDA tools, formal verification, silicon design, and embedded software. Research and development engineers and senior individual contributors in product and applications engineering are also commonly sponsored. Sales and operations roles are sponsored less frequently.
How do I navigate the Green Card application process at Synopsys?
Synopsys handles Green Card filings through its immigration counsel. The process starts with PERM labor certification filed with DOL, followed by an I-140 immigrant petition filed with USCIS, and then adjustment of status or consular processing. Your HR or immigration contact will coordinate each stage, but you should track your priority date independently from the start.
How long does the Green Card process take at Synopsys?
PERM labor certification with DOL currently takes many months to process, and USCIS I-140 adjudication adds additional time. For applicants born in India or China, visa backlogs under EB-2 and EB-3 can extend the total timeline to many years. Starting the process as early as your employer allows gives you the most runway to manage status transitions.
How do I find open Green Card jobs at Synopsys?
Migrate Mate shows Synopsys's verified Green Card and LCA filing history by job title and location, so you can target roles with an active sponsorship track record rather than guessing. Cross-reference those findings with Synopsys's careers page to identify open positions in the engineering teams that sponsor most consistently.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Synopsys?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
