Job Roles at Texas State University
How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Texas State University Green Card Visa Sponsorship Jobs USA
Target faculty and research postings directly
Green Card sponsorship at Texas State University is most reliably attached to tenure-track faculty and research-intensive positions. Focus your search on academic departments and research centers rather than general administrative openings.
Understand the EB-2 and EB-3 pathways universities use
Texas State typically pursues Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 classifications. Faculty roles with a national interest waiver angle may qualify for EB-2 NIW, while staff roles more often follow the PERM labor certification route under EB-3.
Raise sponsorship early in the hiring process
University HR teams plan immigration support well in advance. Ask about Green Card sponsorship eligibility before or during the offer negotiation stage, not after signing, so the department can align budgets and legal resources accordingly.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified sponsorship roles
Not every Texas State University posting will flag Green Card support. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you prioritize roles where international hiring is already established practice.
Connect with departments that have sponsored before
In higher education, Green Card sponsorship patterns repeat by department. Research which colleges or units at Texas State have consistently hired international faculty, and tailor your applications toward those areas where sponsorship infrastructure already exists.
Demonstrate long-term fit, not just qualifications
Universities sponsor Green Cards for candidates they see as long-term institutional assets. Emphasizing research continuity, grant potential, or specialized expertise that aligns with Texas State's academic priorities strengthens the case for sponsorship investment.

Does Texas State University sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Texas State University sponsors Green Card visas for qualifying employees. Sponsorship is most common for tenure-track faculty, researchers, and specialized professional staff where no qualified U.S. worker is readily available. The university works with immigration counsel to manage the process, typically through PERM labor certification or EB-2 pathways depending on the role.
Which roles and departments at Texas State University typically receive Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at Texas State University is most consistently offered for tenure-track and tenured faculty positions, postdoctoral researchers, and highly specialized administrative or research staff roles. Academic departments in STEM, health sciences, and business tend to have more established sponsorship histories, though eligibility ultimately depends on the specific position and department budget.
How do I start the Green Card process at Texas State University?
The process begins with your hiring department confirming sponsorship eligibility, followed by a referral to the university's designated immigration legal counsel. For most roles, Texas State will initiate a PERM labor certification with the Department of Labor before filing an immigrant petition with USCIS. Your HR contact is the right starting point to understand what steps apply to your specific position.
How long does the Green Card process take at Texas State University?
Timelines vary significantly based on the visa category and your country of birth. The PERM labor certification stage alone can take six months to over a year before the USCIS petition is even filed. Applicants born in countries with high demand, such as India or China, may face multi-year backlogs in the employment-based preference categories. Texas State's immigration counsel can provide a realistic projection for your situation.
How do I find open Green Card jobs at Texas State University?
Start by searching Texas State University's official careers portal for faculty and research postings, then verify which roles include immigration support in the job description or during the interview process. Migrate Mate is a useful resource for identifying universities with active Green Card sponsorship histories, so you can prioritize applications where sponsorship is a realistic part of the offer.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Texas State University?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
