Target core engineering disciplines
TSMC's Green Card filings concentrate in semiconductor process engineering, electrical engineering, and materials science. Aligning your application to these disciplines, rather than adjacent roles, puts you in the strongest position for sponsored positions.
Understand TSMC's PERM-first approach
TSMC typically pursues Green Cards through PERM labor certification before filing an immigrant petition. Understanding this sequence helps you ask the right questions about timeline and employer commitment during your interview process.
Build experience on nonimmigrant status first
Most TSMC Green Card sponsorships follow a period on H-1B or E-3 status. Demonstrating strong performance in your nonimmigrant role significantly increases the likelihood TSMC will initiate your Green Card process.
Raise sponsorship early in negotiations
TSMC's recruiting teams are experienced with immigration questions. Asking directly whether a specific role includes Green Card sponsorship during the offer stage is standard practice and expected from technical candidates at this level.
Focus on U.S. fab and R&D locations
TSMC's Green Card activity is concentrated at its U.S. fabrication and research sites. Roles tied to these facilities are more likely to include Green Card sponsorship than corporate or administrative positions.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified sponsoring roles
Finding roles where TSMC has actually sponsored visas matters more than job titles alone. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and prioritize applications accordingly.
TSMC Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does TSMC sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, TSMC sponsors Green Card visas for qualifying employees in the United States. The company files consistently across technical and engineering disciplines tied to its semiconductor operations. Sponsorship is most common for roles in process engineering, chip design, and research, and typically follows a period of employment on a nonimmigrant work visa such as the H-1B visa or E-3 visa.
Which roles at TSMC are most likely to receive Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at TSMC is concentrated in highly technical roles, particularly in semiconductor process engineering, electrical engineering, materials science, and R&D. Positions directly tied to TSMC's U.S. fabrication facilities are the most active. Corporate support roles such as finance or HR receive Green Card sponsorship far less frequently.
How do I start the Green Card process at TSMC?
The process typically begins after you've worked at TSMC on a nonimmigrant visa and your manager initiates sponsorship with the internal immigration team. TSMC works with outside immigration counsel to file PERM labor certification with the Department of Labor, followed by an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS. Your role is primarily to provide documentation and respond to requests promptly.
How long does the Green Card process take at TSMC?
Timeline depends heavily on your country of birth and the visa preference category TSMC files under. For most applicants born outside India and China, the EB-2 or EB-3 process can take two to five years from PERM initiation to approval. Applicants born in India or China face significantly longer waits due to per-country visa backlogs that are outside TSMC's control.
How do I find open Green Card sponsorship jobs at TSMC?
Start by identifying TSMC roles in engineering and technical disciplines at its U.S. locations. Migrate Mate lists positions from verified Green Card sponsors and lets you filter by sponsorship history, so you can confirm a company's track record before applying. Once you've identified a target role, confirm sponsorship eligibility directly with TSMC's recruiter during the early stages of the hiring process.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at TSMC?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
