Job Roles at University of South Carolina
How to Get Visa Sponsorship in University of South Carolina Green Card Visa Sponsorship Jobs USA
Target faculty and research roles first
University of South Carolina's Green Card sponsorship is most common in tenure-track faculty, postdoctoral research, and specialized research staff positions. These roles align naturally with the EB-2 category and represent the university's strongest sponsorship pipeline.
Raise sponsorship early in the hiring conversation
University HR departments handle sponsorship through formal channels. Asking about Green Card support during the offer stage, not after onboarding, gives the international hiring team time to assess eligibility and begin PERM recruitment steps promptly.
Search for roles with verified sponsorship history
Not every USC posting will explicitly mention Green Card support. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you identify which University of South Carolina departments have active Green Card programs.
Connect with USC's Office of International Scholar and Student Services
USC's dedicated international services office coordinates immigration sponsorship alongside HR. Engaging this office early helps you understand which departments have sponsored Green Cards before and what internal approval steps the university requires.

Does University of South Carolina sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, University of South Carolina sponsors Green Card visas for eligible employees. Sponsorship is most common in faculty, research, and specialized professional roles. The university typically uses EB-2 and EB-3 categories, with the process coordinated through its HR and international services offices. Not every position qualifies, so confirming sponsorship support during hiring is important.
Which roles and departments at University of South Carolina typically receive Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at USC is most concentrated in academic and research functions, including tenure-track and tenured faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and highly specialized professional staff. Departments within STEM fields, health sciences, and research-intensive colleges tend to have the strongest sponsorship history given the ongoing need for internationally qualified candidates.
How do I navigate the Green Card application process at University of South Carolina?
The process at USC typically begins with PERM labor certification, where the university must document a recruitment effort showing no qualified U.S. workers were available for the role. HR and the international services office manage this process. Following PERM certification, USC files the I-140 immigrant petition on the employee's behalf before the individual can proceed to adjustment of status or consular processing.
How long does the Green Card process take at University of South Carolina?
The timeline varies significantly depending on your nationality and the visa category used. PERM labor certification alone can take many months, and I-140 adjudication adds additional time. For applicants from countries with high demand, priority date backlogs can extend the overall process considerably. Beginning the process as early as possible after hire is the most practical way to manage this uncertainty.
How do I find Green Card jobs at University of South Carolina?
Start by identifying USC roles in research, faculty, or specialized professional tracks, as these are most likely to include sponsorship support. Migrate Mate lists verified Green Card sponsors and lets you filter opportunities by sponsorship history, which helps you focus on USC postings where sponsorship has actually been provided rather than relying on job descriptions that may not mention it.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at University of South Carolina?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
