Why this role matters
If you love the intersection of projects + numbers + people, this is your seat at the table. As a Senior Project Accountant, you’ll be the trusted financial partner to Project Managers—owning the accuracy behind project setup, WIP, billing, reporting, and closeout—while also training and mentoring the next generation of project accounting talent. You’ll bring structure, clarity, and momentum to the project financial lifecycle in a fast-paced environment. You’ll report to the Director of Project Accounting and play a key role in strengthening process consistency, improving cash flow outcomes, and elevating the team’s capability. This is more than just a numbers role—it’s your chance to contribute to a collaborative, growth-focused team where your precision and initiative will help drive our success. We offer a supportive work culture, competitive salary and benefits, and real opportunities for professional development.
- Manage the full project accounting lifecycle for a portfolio of projects—from setup through closeout.
- Ensure projects are configured correctly in Deltek: contract terms, billing terms, rate tables, budgets, labor categories, and key project attributes.
- Monitor and maintain financial integrity: budget vs. actuals, labor postings, WIP/unbilled, AR aging support, and project status.
- Prepare and/or review invoices across common billing types (T&M, lump sum, NTE, cost-plus, retainers, etc.).
- Partner with PMs to ensure invoices are accurate, timely, and aligned with contract requirements—including required backup and portal submissions.
- Serve as a point of escalation for complex project accounting questions—digging in, finding root causes, and driving clean resolution.
- Deliver clear reporting and insights to PMs and leadership (WIP, unbilled, project performance, trends, and risks).
- Identify process gaps and recommend improvements that reduce rework, improve accuracy, and support scalability.
- Train and onboard Project Accounting Assistants and Project Accountants on Deltek workflows, billing standards, and best practices.
- Provide coaching, quality reviews, and practical guidance that builds confidence and consistency.
- Contribute to SOPs, checklists, and tools that help the whole function run smoother.
What we're looking for

- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with high accuracy.
- Strong communication skills and a service mindset—able to partner effectively with PMs and leadership.
- Attention to Detail: Strong ability to manage multiple projects while ensuring accuracy in reporting and compliance.

Job Roles at Walker Consultants
How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Walker Consultants Green Card Visa Sponsorship Jobs USA
Target roles with long-term project scope
Walker Consultants is more likely to sponsor Green Cards for roles tied to multi-year client engagements. When applying, look for positions in project management, engineering consulting, or technical advisory where long-term retention is a clear business priority.
Confirm sponsorship intent during the offer stage
Green Card sponsorship is not automatic. Ask your recruiter directly whether the role includes a sponsorship commitment and at what stage it typically begins. Getting clarity early prevents misaligned expectations after you've joined the team.
Understand the PERM labor certification process
Walker Consultants's Green Card filings go through the PERM process, which requires the company to document recruitment efforts. Knowing this process helps you set realistic timeline expectations and prepare the employment verification documents your attorney will need.
Use Migrate Mate to verify sponsorship history
Before applying, confirm Walker Consultants has a real sponsorship track record. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by actual sponsorship history, helping you focus your applications on companies that follow through.
Leverage your F-1 OPT or H-1B status strategically
Walker Consultants sponsors both F-1 OPT and H-1B visas, which can serve as stepping stones to a Green Card. Demonstrating strong performance during your nonimmigrant status period strengthens your case when Green Card sponsorship conversations begin.
Build relationships in technical and specialized practice areas
In consulting and professional services, Green Card sponsorship tends to follow specialized expertise. Positioning yourself within Walker Consultants's core practice areas, particularly roles requiring niche technical or industry knowledge, improves your chances of being sponsored.

Does Walker Consultants sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Walker Consultants sponsors Green Card visas for qualifying employees. The company files under the EB-2 and EB-3 categories, primarily for professionals in consulting, engineering, and technical roles. Sponsorship is typically offered to employees in long-term positions where retention is a business priority rather than to short-term or contract hires.
Which roles at Walker Consultants are most likely to receive Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at Walker Consultants tends to concentrate in technical consulting, engineering, and specialized advisory roles where the company has ongoing client commitments. Positions requiring specific credentials or industry expertise are stronger candidates for sponsorship than generalist or administrative roles, as the business case for long-term retention is easier to establish.
How do I start the Green Card process at Walker Consultants?
The process typically begins after you've been employed for a period of time and your manager and HR team agree to move forward. Walker Consultants would engage an immigration attorney to file a PERM labor certification with the Department of Labor, followed by an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS. Your role is to provide employment history, education credentials, and supporting documents as requested.
How long does the Green Card process take at Walker Consultants?
The timeline depends on your country of birth and the visa category used. For most nationalities, the PERM and I-140 stages take roughly one to two years combined. If your priority date is current, you can then file for adjustment of status. Applicants born in India or China face significantly longer waits due to per-country backlog limits, sometimes spanning many years.
How do I find open Green Card sponsorship jobs at Walker Consultants?
Start by searching Walker Consultants directly on Migrate Mate, which surfaces verified sponsorship history so you can apply with confidence. Look for roles in consulting, technical services, or project-based positions where sponsorship is most common. When you reach the interview stage, ask the recruiter explicitly whether the role includes a Green Card sponsorship commitment before accepting any offer.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Walker Consultants?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
