Job Roles at Applied Materials
How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Applied Materials H-1B Visa Sponsorship Jobs USA
Target engineering and R&D roles first
Applied Materials concentrates H-1B sponsorship in technical disciplines like process engineering, equipment development, and materials science. These specialty occupation roles align directly with H-1B requirements, making them the strongest starting point for international candidates.
Engage with the company before applying
Applied Materials attends major engineering and semiconductor industry recruiting events. Connecting with their talent acquisition team or employees at these events signals genuine interest and gives you visibility before your application hits their applicant tracking system.
Align your degree with the specific role
H-1B approval at Applied Materials depends on a clear match between your academic background and the job description. A degree in electrical engineering, materials science, or a closely related field strengthens your petition significantly and reduces RFE risk.
Find verified sponsorship-ready openings
Not every Applied Materials job listing confirms visa support upfront. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you focus your search on roles where H-1B sponsorship is genuinely available.
Understand the April H-1B lottery timeline
Applied Materials plans hiring around the H-1B cap cycle. Starting your job search between December and February gives you the best chance of securing an offer in time for your employer to register you before the March lottery window closes.
Highlight any U.S.-based experience or OPT status
Candidates already working in the U.S. on F-1 OPT are particularly attractive to Applied Materials because they can start immediately. Emphasizing existing U.S. work authorization reduces employer friction and strengthens your candidacy ahead of the H-1B transition.

Does Applied Materials sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Applied Materials sponsors H-1B visas. The company is an established H-1B sponsor with a consistent track record of filing petitions for international employees, particularly in engineering, research, and technical roles across its semiconductor equipment and process technology divisions.
Which roles and departments at Applied Materials typically receive H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at Applied Materials is concentrated in roles requiring specialized technical expertise. Process engineers, equipment engineers, materials scientists, software engineers supporting hardware systems, and R&D researchers are the positions most commonly sponsored. Corporate functions like finance or marketing rarely receive H-1B support, so targeting technical departments gives you the strongest chance.
How does the H-1B application process work once Applied Materials offers me a job?
After you accept an offer, Applied Materials works with its immigration counsel to file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor and then submit the H-1B petition to USCIS. You will provide documentation including your degree credentials, passport, and employment details. The company manages the process, but staying responsive to document requests keeps things on schedule.
How long does H-1B sponsorship take at Applied Materials?
For cap-subject H-1B petitions, the process runs April through October at minimum, assuming selection in the lottery. Standard USCIS processing takes three to six months after filing. Premium processing, which Applied Materials may elect to use, can reduce the USCIS adjudication portion to a few weeks, though the lottery timing itself cannot be accelerated.
How do I find H-1B jobs at Applied Materials that confirm sponsorship?
Job listings do not always specify H-1B sponsorship clearly, which makes it easy to waste time applying to roles where support is unavailable. Migrate Mate lets you filter opportunities at verified H-1B sponsors like Applied Materials, so you can focus exclusively on positions where international candidates are actively considered. Prioritizing technical and engineering roles improves your odds further.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at Applied Materials?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
