- Develop low-level drivers and control algorithms for critical printing peripherals, including stepper/DC motors, thermal print heads, and print engines.
- Collaborate with hardware and manufacturing teams early in the design cycle to ensure firmware supports efficient factory testing, calibration, and high-yield production.
- Drive fast-paced prototyping initiatives to validate new product concepts, features, and hardware components while providing strong technical leadership to elevate team capabilities.
- Design and implement robust telemetry, logging, and remote monitoring frameworks to proactively track device health and diagnose complex system-level bugs in the field.
- Drive the technical direction, delegate and assign tasks, and elevate the technical capabilities of the entire firmware team.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field required. Master's degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in embedded systems development with expert-level proficiency in the C language.
- Proven experience architecting systems utilizing Real-Time Operating Systems (e.g., FreeRTOS).
- Deep understanding of communication protocols (BLE, Wi-Fi, USB, UART, SPI, I2C) and experience driving physical peripherals (motors, thermal components, sensors).
- Strong hands-on hardware debugging skills with comfortable reading of schematics and using standard lab equipment (scopes, logic analyzers, JTAG debuggers).
- Proven track record of designing firmware with full lifecycle and manufacturability in mind, taking products from a blank text editor to a commercialized, mass-produced reality.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- FPGA design and development experience using Verilog or VHDL is highly desired.
- Previous experience developing printers is highly desired.
- Previous experience developing for RFID encoders or readers.
- Experience with INTEGRITY OS.

Focus on technical and engineering roles
Avery Dennison's H-1B sponsorship is concentrated in specialty occupations like mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, and materials science. Targeting these functions gives you the strongest chance of landing a role that qualifies for H-1B sponsorship.
Understand how manufacturing H-1B sponsorship works
In manufacturing, H-1B sponsorship is most common for roles requiring a specific degree field, not just any bachelor's degree. Make sure your educational background clearly maps to the role's specialty occupation requirement before applying.
Engage Avery Dennison's talent acquisition team early
H-1B sponsorship decisions at large manufacturers often involve HR, legal, and hiring managers. Reaching out to recruiters early to confirm sponsorship willingness before you're deep in the process saves significant time and avoids late-stage surprises.
Search verified H-1B-sponsoring employers before applying
Not every job posting at Avery Dennison will flag sponsorship availability. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you identify which roles and locations are most likely to support an H-1B petition.
Align your application timing with the H-1B cap cycle
If you're not already on H-1B status, Avery Dennison would need to file during the April cap season for an October 1 start. Factor this into your job search timeline and discuss it openly with recruiters during the interview process.
Highlight specialized expertise relevant to Avery Dennison's product lines
Avery Dennison works across labeling, packaging materials, and RFID technology. Demonstrating deep expertise in relevant technical areas strengthens the specialty occupation case and signals to hiring managers that sponsorship investment is worthwhile for your specific skill set.
Avery Dennison H-1B Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Avery Dennison sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Avery Dennison sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying roles in the United States. Sponsorship is most consistently offered for specialty occupation positions in engineering, research and development, materials science, and supply chain operations. If you're in a technical field, Avery Dennison is worth pursuing as a prospective H-1B employer.
Which roles and departments at Avery Dennison typically receive H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at Avery Dennison is most common in functions that require a specific degree field, including mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, product development, and operations management. Corporate functions like finance and data analytics may also qualify depending on role requirements, though technical roles represent the strongest sponsorship track record.
How do I navigate the H-1B application process at Avery Dennison?
Once you receive an offer, Avery Dennison works with outside immigration counsel to prepare the H-1B petition. Your role is to provide educational credentials, employment documentation, and any prior immigration records. The company's legal team handles the Labor Condition Application and USCIS filing. Respond to document requests promptly to keep the process on schedule.
How long does H-1B sponsorship take at Avery Dennison?
For cap-subject H-1B petitions, the timeline runs from the April lottery registration to an October 1 employment start date, a process of roughly six months. If Avery Dennison files with premium processing, USCIS adjudicates the petition within 15 business days of receipt. Cap-exempt situations, such as transfers from another H-1B employer, can move faster without waiting for the lottery.
How do I find open H-1B jobs at Avery Dennison?
Start by reviewing Avery Dennison's careers page for roles in engineering, R&D, and operations. Migrate Mate is also worth using, as it aggregates verified H-1B-sponsoring employers and lets you filter opportunities by sponsorship history, so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is a realistic outcome rather than an uncertain request.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at Avery Dennison?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
