Target academic and research departments directly
FGCU's H-1B sponsorship is concentrated in faculty and research positions. Focus your search on departments hiring instructors, researchers, or specialized professional staff rather than general administrative or support roles.
Understand how university H-1B sponsorship works
Universities like FGCU typically initiate H-1B petitions through their HR or international faculty office after a job offer is made. Confirming sponsorship willingness before applying saves time and avoids wasted effort.
Use a platform that filters by real sponsorship history
Not every FGCU job posting will state sponsorship availability upfront. Migrate Mate surfaces verified H-1B sponsors so you can confirm FGCU's sponsorship track record before investing time in an application.
Apply ahead of the H-1B cap season
If you're not already in H-1B status, timing matters. FGCU roles with cap-exempt status may offer more flexibility, but confirm this with their HR team early since universities can qualify for cap-exempt filing in some cases.
Highlight credentials that align with specialty occupation requirements
FGCU must demonstrate your role qualifies as a specialty occupation for H-1B approval. Emphasize your degree field and how it directly relates to the specific position you're applying for in your application materials.
Connect with FGCU's international faculty office
FGCU's office handling international employees can clarify which departments are actively sponsoring, typical processing timelines, and any internal requirements beyond the standard USCIS H-1B petition process.
