Target roles that align with specialty occupation standards
FTI's H-1B sponsorships concentrate in roles requiring advanced expertise, such as economic consulting, financial advisory, forensic analysis, and technology services. Applying to positions with a clear degree requirement in a specific field strengthens your H-1B petition from the start.
Engage FTI's recruiting team early in the process
Consulting firms like FTI typically initiate H-1B paperwork well ahead of the April filing window. Raising sponsorship during your first recruiter conversation, not after an offer, helps both sides plan around USCIS deadlines without last-minute pressure.
Demonstrate specialized knowledge during interviews
FTI values deep subject-matter expertise across its practice areas. Articulating how your specific academic background and technical skills map to the role's requirements reinforces the specialty occupation case that underpins every successful H-1B petition.
Understand FTI's internal mobility and practice structure
FTI operates across distinct segments including Economic Consulting, FLC, Corporate Finance, and Technology. Targeting a practice where your credentials directly fit narrows the field and increases the likelihood that a sponsoring manager can justify the H-1B business case internally.
Use verified sponsorship data when searching for open roles
Not every job listing clarifies sponsorship eligibility upfront. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, saving time and helping you confirm FTI's current openings before investing in a full application.
Prepare for the cap and lottery timing realities
Most FTI hires require a cap-subject H-1B, meaning registration opens in March for an October start. Aligning your target start date with this cycle, and discussing it transparently with your FTI recruiter, prevents avoidable delays in your hiring timeline.
FTI H-1B Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does FTI sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, FTI Consulting sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying roles across its practice areas. The firm operates in Consulting and Professional Services, where many positions meet the specialty occupation standard that H-1B requires. Sponsorship is most consistent for roles demanding advanced, field-specific degrees rather than generalist backgrounds.
Which roles and departments at FTI are most likely to receive H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at FTI tends to concentrate in analytically intensive practices, including Economic Consulting, Forensic and Litigation Consulting, Corporate Finance and Restructuring, and Technology. Positions requiring economics, finance, accounting, data science, or engineering credentials are strong candidates because the degree-to-role connection is direct and well-documented for USCIS purposes.
How do I navigate the H-1B application process at FTI?
FTI works with external immigration counsel to prepare and file H-1B petitions on behalf of sponsored employees. Once an offer is extended and sponsorship is confirmed, the process involves the employer filing a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor, followed by the USCIS petition. Your role is to provide educational credentials, employment history, and any prior immigration documents promptly when requested.
How long does the H-1B sponsorship process take at FTI?
For cap-subject cases, the timeline runs from USCIS registration in March to an October 1 employment start, assuming lottery selection. The petition itself typically takes two to four months under standard processing, or two to three weeks with premium processing. FTI's recruiting team can advise on whether premium processing is available for your specific role.
How do I find H-1B jobs at FTI and confirm sponsorship before applying?
FTI posts openings on its careers site, but sponsorship eligibility is not always stated explicitly in job descriptions. Migrate Mate aggregates verified H-1B sponsor data so you can confirm FTI's sponsorship history and filter for current openings in one place. Contacting FTI's recruiting team directly early in the process is also the most reliable way to confirm whether a specific role is eligible for H-1B sponsorship.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at FTI?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
