Job Roles at Gresham Smith
How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Gresham Smith H-1B Visa Sponsorship Jobs USA
Target technical and engineering roles
Gresham Smith's H-1B sponsorship is concentrated in specialty occupation roles such as civil, structural, and mechanical engineering. Focus your application on positions where a specific degree requirement is core to the job, not just preferred.
Engage early in the H-1B cap season
H-1B petitions must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start date. Reach out to Gresham Smith recruiters in the fall or winter so the firm has time to prepare your petition well before the filing window opens.
Highlight licensure and project credentials
Gresham Smith values professional credentials in the construction and real estate space. Mentioning progress toward PE licensure or relevant project experience signals you're a long-term hire, which strengthens the business case for sponsorship investment.
Use verified sponsorship data when job searching
Not every Gresham Smith job listing explicitly mentions H-1B sponsorship. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you identify which openings are genuinely worth pursuing as a visa-dependent candidate.
Research Gresham Smith's practice areas before applying
The firm works across transportation, healthcare, and commercial real estate sectors. Tailoring your application to a practice area where your degree and experience directly align improves your odds of clearing the specialty occupation threshold for H-1B approval.

Does Gresham Smith sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Gresham Smith sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying roles in engineering, architecture, and related technical disciplines. Sponsorship is not automatic with every offer, so it's worth confirming directly with a recruiter early in the process. Roles in construction and real estate that require a specific degree field are the most common candidates for sponsorship.
Which roles and departments at Gresham Smith are most likely to receive H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at Gresham Smith is most common in technical specialty occupations, including civil engineering, structural engineering, mechanical and electrical engineering, and architecture. These roles satisfy the specialty occupation requirement because they typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field. General administrative or business development roles are far less likely to be sponsored.
How do I navigate the H-1B application process at Gresham Smith?
Once Gresham Smith extends a job offer and confirms sponsorship, the firm's immigration counsel files a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor and then submits your H-1B petition to USCIS. As the candidate, you'll need to provide academic credentials, employment documentation, and personal information. The process runs through the firm's HR and legal teams, so your main role is responding promptly to document requests.
How long does H-1B sponsorship take at Gresham Smith?
For cap-subject H-1B petitions, the timeline is dictated by the annual lottery and filing cycle. Registration typically opens in March, selection is announced shortly after, and employment can begin October 1 at the earliest. From offer to start date, the process can span six months or more. If you're transferring an existing H-1B from another employer, Gresham Smith can file a petition outside the cap and you may be able to start sooner.
How do I find and apply to H-1B jobs at Gresham Smith?
Start by identifying open roles that match your degree and experience in Gresham Smith's core practice areas. Migrate Mate can help you confirm sponsorship history and surface relevant openings at verified sponsors like Gresham Smith. When you apply, be upfront about your visa requirements so recruiters can assess fit and loop in the appropriate HR and legal contacts from the start.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at Gresham Smith?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
