INTRODUCTION
Meta's Infrastructure Hardware team is seeking a Technical Sourcing Manager to lead strategic sourcing for DRAM and SSD memory technologies that power Meta's global data center fleet. In this role, you will define and execute long-term supply strategies for high-capacity and high-performance memory components, partnering with silicon vendors, and internal engineering teams to ensure NPI ramp and cost competitiveness, and technology alignment across Meta's hyperscale infrastructure. You will operate at the intersection of semiconductor technology roadmaps and large-scale sourcing strategy, shaping how Meta sources and deploys memory solutions at one of the world's largest infrastructure footprints.
Technical Sourcing Manager, DRAM and SSD Responsibilities:
- Define and co-own the multi-year sourcing strategy for DRAM and NAND/SSD components across Meta's data center infrastructure, including capacity planning, supplier portfolio management, and technology transitions
- Develop deep technical fluency in DRAM and NAND technology roadmaps (e.g., DDR5, HBM, QLC/TLC NAND, NVMe SSD) to evaluate supplier offerings and align sourcing decisions with infrastructure engineering requirements
- Partner with hardware engineering, capacity planning, and data center operations teams to translate infrastructure memory requirements into actionable sourcing plans
- Conduct a total cost of ownership analysis and should-cost modeling for memory components to inform negotiation strategies and investment decisions
- Lead component qualifications for DRAM and SSD, in partnership with hardware component quality and design engineering teams
- Establish and track supplier performance metrics on technology roadmap alignment, driving continuous improvement through structured business reviews
- Influence memory technology selection decisions by synthesizing supplier roadmap data, market intelligence, and internal engineering feedback into actionable recommendations for leadership
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- 12+ years of experience in technical sourcing, supply chain management, or commodity management for semiconductor or memory components (DRAM, NAND, SSD)
- Experience with DRAM and NAND technology roadmaps and the ability to evaluate technical trade-offs across memory generations and form factors
- Experience developing sourcing strategies and total cost of ownership models for memory or semiconductor commodities in a hyperscale or large enterprise environment
- Experience working cross-functionally with hardware engineering, quality, and legal teams to align sourcing decisions with technical and business requirements
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Familiarity with HBM (High Bandwidth Memory) or emerging memory technologies and their supply chain dynamics
- Experience sourcing memory components specifically for data center or cloud infrastructure applications, including server DRAM and enterprise NVMe SSD
- Track record of influencing executive-level decisions through data-driven market analysis and supplier intelligence reporting
- Experience building and scaling commodity management programs or sourcing centers of excellence within a hardware or infrastructure organization

Align your degree to Meta's specialty occupation
Meta's H-1B petitions require your degree field to directly match the role. A computer science or electrical engineering degree maps cleanly to most engineering titles. If your degree is adjacent, document how your coursework covers the core technical competencies Meta's LCA job duties describe.
Target teams with recurring H-1B filing history
Meta's H-1B sponsorship concentrates in infrastructure engineering, AI research, and ads technology. Use the OFLC Wage Search to see which job titles Meta has filed for most consistently. Roles in these teams have established petitioning workflows, which reduces approval uncertainty for your case.
Verify Meta's E-Verify enrollment before accepting an offer
Meta is enrolled in E-Verify, which is a STEM OPT extension requirement. Confirm this with your recruiter before your OPT end date so your STEM extension and any cap-gap period are properly documented. Missing this step can create an authorization gap between OPT expiration and H-1B activation.
Negotiate your offer before the LCA wage level is set
Meta's HR team files the LCA with a prevailing wage level that anchors your H-1B salary floor. Use BLS Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics and the OFLC Wage Search to check Level I through Level IV thresholds for your role and metro area before your offer letter is finalized.
Check your H-1B cap eligibility with Migrate Mate
Before Meta submits your H-1B registration, confirm you're cap-subject and haven't already been counted. Migrate Mate can walk you through your cap eligibility, cap-exempt pathways if applicable, and what documentation Meta's immigration counsel will need from you for the March registration window.
Prepare for premium processing timelines in your start date
Meta routinely uses USCIS premium processing to accelerate H-1B adjudication to 15 business days. Even so, build in time for a possible Request for Evidence, which pauses the clock. Coordinate your target start date with Meta's HR team at least 90 days before your current status expires.
Meta H-1B Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Meta sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Meta sponsors H-1B visas across a wide range of technical and research roles. Software engineering, machine learning, data science, and product management positions are among the most frequently sponsored. Meta's immigration team manages the filing process internally with outside counsel, so sponsorship is built into the standard offer workflow for qualifying roles.
Which departments at Meta are most likely to sponsor H-1B visas?
Meta's strongest H-1B sponsorship activity sits in engineering, AI and machine learning research, infrastructure, and ads technology. Product and program management roles also receive sponsorship, particularly when the position requires a specialized technical degree. Roles in operations, sales, or general business functions are less commonly sponsored through the H-1B program.
How do I navigate the H-1B filing process after receiving a Meta offer?
After your offer letter is signed, Meta's HR team coordinates with outside immigration counsel to file your Labor Condition Application with DOL and then submit your H-1B petition to USCIS. You'll need to provide degree certificates, transcripts, and identity documents. The process typically begins several months before your target start date to allow for H-1B cap registration in March.
How long does H-1B sponsorship take at Meta?
The H-1B cap registration window opens in March each year, with lottery results typically issued within weeks. If selected, Meta files your full petition between April and June for an October 1 start date. Meta commonly elects premium processing through USCIS, which adjudicates petitions within 15 business days, though a Request for Evidence can extend that timeline.
How do I find H-1B jobs at Meta that match my background?
Search Migrate Mate to filter Meta's open roles by visa type and job function, so you're only seeing positions where H-1B sponsorship is actively supported. Cross-reference the job title against the O*NET occupation profile to confirm your degree field aligns with the specialty occupation definition USCIS will evaluate during adjudication.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at Meta?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
