Who We Are
Nuro is a self-driving technology company on a mission to make autonomy accessible to all. Founded in 2016, Nuro is building the world’s most scalable driver, combining cutting-edge AI with automotive-grade hardware. Nuro licenses its core technology, the Nuro Driver™, to support a wide range of applications, from robotaxis and commercial fleets to personally owned vehicles. With technology proven over years of self-driving deployments, Nuro gives the automakers and mobility platforms a clear path to AVs at commercial scale—empowering a safer, richer, and more connected future.
About The Work
- Develop and scale state-of-the-art generative models—especially diffusion architectures, flow-matching techniques, and energy-based models—for autonomous plan generation.
- Build generative models with foundation models. Leverage large language models and world foundation models for reasoning, decision making, and multi-modality generation.
- Optimize generative models using reinforcement learning to improve interactive reasoning. Explore reward modeling/learned verifier using generative models. Explore joint prediction and planning and self-play. Leverage generative models for active learning and world modeling.
- Develop controllable generative models to guide the generation process towards desired goals, conditions, and rewards.
- Collaborate across autonomy teams while developing holistic solutions to top autonomy challenges. Understand issues, propose ideas, prioritize work, and develop solutions to solve them, evaluate your solution by deploying the models on to the NuroDriver.
About You
You have deep expertise and prior experience in some or many of the following areas:
- You have a Ph.D. (preferable) or M.Sc. with 2-3 years of experience working with generative models in the lab, in industry, or both.
- Research experiences in generative models, particularly diffusion models, flow matching, and energy-based models, for robotics, including manipulation, path planning, and autonomous driving. Experiences in vision-language-action models, reinforcement learning for generative model optimization, video generation, text-to-image generation, diffusion models for LLMs, world foundation models, and other applications of generative modeling are a bonus!
- You have strong problem solving and programming skills in Python and/or C++.
- Strong culture fit and good team player.
- Demonstrated research publications in top conferences (e.g. NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, CVPR, RSS, CoRL etc.)

Target roles that align with Nuro's core technology stack
Nuro's H-1B sponsorship is concentrated in robotics, machine learning, autonomy software, and hardware engineering. Applying to roles that map directly to its autonomous delivery platform gives you the strongest case for sponsorship consideration.
Apply well before the H-1B cap registration window
Nuro follows the standard H-1B cap cycle with an April 1 start date. To be included in the lottery, you need a job offer secured months earlier. Starting your outreach in the fall gives the hiring team enough runway to file on your behalf.
Demonstrate specialized expertise, not just relevant experience
H-1B specialty occupation requires a direct link between your degree and the role. At a technology company like Nuro, clearly articulating how your specific academic background applies to the position strengthens both your candidacy and the petition itself.
Use Migrate Mate to confirm Nuro's sponsorship history before applying
Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and confirm Nuro actively files H-1B petitions. This saves time and helps you prioritize applications to companies with a genuine track record of sponsoring international hires.
Engage Nuro's talent team directly at recruiting events
Nuro recruits heavily from top engineering programs and robotics-focused graduate schools. Connecting with their recruiters at university career fairs or AI and autonomy conferences puts you in front of hiring managers who already understand H-1B sponsorship.
Be transparent about your visa status early in the process
Nuro's recruiting team handles international candidates regularly. Disclosing your H-1B need upfront, rather than waiting for an offer, allows the team to loop in legal counsel early and avoids delays when the process moves quickly.
Nuro H-1B Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Nuro sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Nuro sponsors H-1B visas for qualified international candidates. The company operates in autonomous vehicle technology, a field that draws heavily from a global engineering talent pool. Sponsorship is most common for specialized technical roles where Nuro has identified a strong candidate who meets H-1B specialty occupation requirements.
Which roles at Nuro are most likely to receive H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at Nuro is concentrated in technical disciplines including robotics engineering, machine learning, computer vision, autonomy software, and hardware systems. These roles require highly specialized academic credentials and professional experience, which aligns well with the H-1B specialty occupation standard. Business and operational roles are sponsored less frequently.
How do I navigate the H-1B application process at Nuro?
Once Nuro extends an offer, their immigration legal team takes over the petition process. You'll provide educational credentials, employment history, and documentation supporting the specialty occupation claim. The employer files the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor first, then submits Form I-129 to USCIS after your registration is selected in the lottery.
How long does H-1B sponsorship take at Nuro?
The full timeline from offer to H-1B start date typically spans six to twelve months when going through the standard cap cycle. Registration opens in March, the lottery runs shortly after, and approved petitions take effect October 1. Premium processing is available and can reduce USCIS adjudication to a matter of weeks, though it does not affect the October 1 start date.
How do I find H-1B jobs at Nuro as an international applicant?
Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for roles at verified H-1B sponsors like Nuro, so you're not guessing about which companies will actually file. Once you've identified open positions, apply early and communicate your visa status clearly in your initial conversations with Nuro's recruiting team to avoid surprises later in the process.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at Nuro?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
